RIP Paul Jackson (bassist for the Headhunters)

Best known as the bassist for Herbie Hancock's Headhunters (first million selling jazz album).

Jackson also worked as a sideman with Santana, the Pointer Sisters and jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins. He co-wrote and sang lead vocals on the song "God Make Me Funky," off Survival of the Fittest (sampled by De La Soul and N.W.A. amongst many others).

A one-of-a-kind bassist and funk royalty that expanded the genres of jazz and funk.

Not the same Paul Jackson who played guitar and bass in the 80s, is it? I don't think it is. I remember another Paul Jackson on Thriller and other MJ projects.

I think that was Paul Jackson Jr. (not related) and is a great studio musician.

I wondered if their names were coincidence, or if they were father and son. Am I safetly to assume the latter?
