Daft Punk - Epilogue (1993-2021)

Daft Punk have disbanded.

They uploaded a video to their YouTube page a few hours ago with a near 8-minute video saying goodbye to each other as a band, and to fans after 28 years.

You just have to watch it.

Thoughts?

Goddamn.

Chills when the choir part from Touch was played.

I wish them plenty of happiness in their lives. They've given so much to the dance music culture and they're literal icons.

It's sad, though, we will never get another Daft Punk album. sad sad

We could if there is vault type stuff they'll release, or if there are remasters down the line w/ bonus stuff. But yeah, nothing new and fresh. End of an era.

RODSERLING

This era ended in 2013/2014, when they released their last album.

I was a huge fan of DP - I bought Discovery the day of the release, it was really huge at the time, like an MJ album.

But since I listen to Prince, JB, Sly, etc. That is to say since 2002, I never had the idea to play Discovery again. But I listened to it at friends of mine, and it s very, very cold and soulless.
I tried Homework at a new years day party at my house - wow that was terrible and unlistenable for most of my guests - and myself, so I stopped it.

One fun story : they didn't know Sly Stone even existed when they did Homework in the 90's, and they still surely don't know him to this day.

Another fun story : I know that their record label wasn't satisfied with the sales of the Discovery album/ singles, considering the huge money in promotion they put in it, so they put One More Time on some radio compilations, against the band' wishes.

They were nevertheless so huge in the beginning of the 00's ( One More Time is the biggest track of the decade) that their Human After All album was very expected. But when it was released it was an all time flop.

Then suddenly they were hyped again thanks to Kanye West and their 2007 live.

R.A.M. is a miracle, and surely their best album with Discovery.
