I absolutely agree.

When I heard he died, i started listening to some of his records (again).

And my god, what a tremendous musician he was.

And he did receive the recognition when in his high days.

I'm a big fan of his 70's output. That's how I learned to love his music.

Also, his second album “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs”, is such a masterpiece.

His work together with Miles Davis, the beginning of fusion...

I had the chance to see him live several times, it always was such a thrill.

Although i was not that much yet into jazz, but curious enough.

It opened up my ears for this special music art form.

I remember well the last concert he played in Brussels (Bozar) in 2018.

The audience was super responsive, and that made me realise that even over here in Belgium he was seen as one of the all time greatest.

-

May his jazz soul rest in rhythm.

-

Guess that Prince fans are still in wintersleep mode.

Or they have no idea anymore what he played.

I guess since the org has been down for over 3 weeks is the reason.
Didn't know the org was up till now. Rest to Chick watched his Concert and it was fantastic at a Jazz fest.

He is someone I need to read about more deeply, then immerse in his music.

i was more into his peers, like Keith Jarrett and Ramsey Lewis, but i was definitely aware of his talent and have heard other great musicians whom i do love, speak VERY highly of him.

An astonishing musician, so talented, so musically open-minded. Return To Forever were fantastic as well.

Rest in peace, Mr. Corea.

My mother went through high school with him in Chelsea, Massachusetts (where I was born.) It's a DUMP! Anyway, she said she knew of him, but that she didn't personally know him. To have come from "Chelsea By The Sea" or "CheLOUSY" as a Jazz legend is amazing. The only noteworthy things about Chelsea were two historic fires, Chick Corea and my MOMMA! Otherwise, a city that was, for a very long time, the victim of crooked politicians. Wanted 2 share and R.I.P., Chick Corea xo

This is what happens here, musical legends die and we get 10 posts at most (Look at the Mary Wilson thread), yet Rush Limbaugh dies and there are 3 pages.

Kim and Kanye divorce - many pages too.

.

We are motivated by gossip and trends. I think there may be too many orgers in the 15 - 29 age group who have no idea who Chick Corea and Mary Wilson were, but they all know about Kimye and Rush Limbaugh.

I got plenty good loving for ya baby

I think knowing about Chick Corea is more about wider musical exposure/sophistication, not age.

He was one of the ambassadors for jazz and a really versatile artist. He will be missed.

I still get chills from this video/song. I love how Chick comes in and just gets to it. And the interaction between Chick and John puts a smile on my face every time. I can just imagine being at that show and feeling the vibe first hand... cloud9 worship

And i totally agree with what Margot said in post #14...

India Town. Sounds better with decent headphones or system.
