Taylor Swift finishes re-recording all her early work, begins releases.

Something that PRINCE spoke about many times wanting to do and in some cases saying he did, or was in the process of doing is now being done, by Taylor Swift. Swift who was not pleased her masters were sold and the fact of who they were sold to, it should be commended her fight, and also as a female doing this. It may sound nuts to redo your old albums but Taylor said she was going to do it, and she has. The first album FEARLESS is set to be released in April the first single released this past Friday "Love Story" very smart again right before valentines day. Taylor is not only re-recording the albums to own the masters she is pulling songs not released "from her vault" for the fans to make it worth getting them again. This first album which had a deluxe back then now will have 26 tracks, six never released before. I believe they will be released not just digitally but on cd and lp, with new artwork, with the title and the (Taylors Version) next to it. If you like her or not, props to her for doing this, because her fans are loyal to the early to the POP stuff to the stuff she is doing now, and they will buy it all. It is ironic how PRINCE wanted to do this too, all we got was 1999 a terrible re-work of the song, timely , but I think the problem was that PRINCE then could not get the players back to do this stuff, Taylor is solo but also PRINCE did play alot of the stuff, but he also had bands, some he fired, some left and who knows why the idea of re-recording never materialized possibly it was YET again PRINCE getting bored with something and moving on to something. Either way Props to Taylor.

Oh. Whatever. She should have gotten better representation in the first place, then she wouldn't have to do this shit now.

actually artists on any label no one has their masters out of the gate, if you want that day one you stay independent. Not sure why people think these artists who get label gigs will still get the gigs if they day one say I own my music and I can go with and where I choose, no one has this. So if she wanted it dayone she would have stayed on her own label and doubtful she would have gotten where she did doing it all on her own from the start, now was her first deal bad, not particularly, she just doesn't like the guy who is a sleaze ball who sold her masters, she didn't even get to bid or buy them which she could have, there again another lie in the industry that artists are offered to buy, the last thing this guy wanted was to let her buy them, we seem to pick and choose the artists we champion for fighting for their work while others she just get over it.

I believe 'The Purple Medley' was also composed of portions of those new masters. The new 'Starfish and Coffee' master featured during Prince's appearance on the Muppet Show and Morris Hayes has discussed remixing at least Prince's first album for the new masters project, so it's likely much more remains in the vault.

I think a greatest hits new masters collection from Prince was more of a possibility. I wonder if the abandoned Very Best of Symbol album slated for the NPGMC was just that or a different project entirely.

she isn't going to change around the songs but her vocal sounds different I think the mistake would be let's totally re do the song ina new way, why? This is why to me Prince 1999 was a huge failure and a mess, it could have been a really good, but it was a failed experiment. In 1995 the band Styx wanted to repackage their hits and the issue was LADY their first top 10 in the early 1970's was owned by another label and refused to give it up but as Tommy Shaw who originally was not on the record, he said the loophole was a re-recording could be done, and honestly that's the better version, totally same song, just an extra high voice in the harmony. So if I was Taylor I wouldn't start doing these song a in new ways and styles.

it seems the issue was getting older members to come back and do parts on the records I would think, having fired people it would be hard to now have them play, cause I am sure Dez Dickerson or whomever would be like, I want a bigger cut this time, and prince as we know was not generous on that paying the band front.

the eps actuall were for songs from folklore and evermore, I believe she was doing variations of the singles these were only available through her store not iTunes and others or at least not complete, and they were available for purchase, but those albums she owns all the masters already I believe her re recordings are for the first six records she released.
