She's already inducted with Ike

Glad to see her on there by herself.

Really surprised to see Benetar got dropped from the list this year. Tina will probably get inducted. Clive will make sure Dionne get inducted. JayZ will buy his induction. Although I doubt she will be inducted, glad to see Chaka back on as a solo act. Nothing against Rufus but her solo output along with the zillion guest appearances she’s made over the years is more eclectic than her Rufus discography. Mary J??? eek

Devo was a fun act,but weren’t they only “hot” for only a few years? I can only name one song by them: “Whip It”.

Jay Z?? lol

I forget how many are let in each year, but I'll pick seven I think belong right now:

Devo

Iron Maiden

Chaka Khan

Carole King

Tina Turner

New York Dolls

Todd Rundgren or Kate Bush

Kate Bush (Awesome!)
Foo Fighters (Cool!)
Iron Maiden (a no brainer!)
Chaka Khan (Awesome!)
Tina Turner (Awesome!)
Rage Against The Machine (a no brainer!)
Todd Rundgren (a no brainer!)
Fela Kuti (Awesome!)

These I would like to see inducted, the rest not so much, maybe Carole King for some cool songs.

As always the RNR HOF has its issues, it still ignores most of a decade (80's) puts up artists that LONG should have been in, and then has some where you go WTF? At some point the HOF needs to just change the name to Music Hall of Fame, and yes the argument is that Soul is the roots of RNR but then where are all the great soul bands of the day in the HALL I mean if thats the case lets start with the ones missed before we get into nominating Mary J Blige ? So for me it would be,

Foo Fighters - Dave is the only one keeping Rock in the mainstream it seems

The Go Go's - now they totally F'd up the Pat Benatar thing, the Go Go's paved the way also

Iron Maiden - not a fan of theirs BUT respect what they have done for that scene

Carole King and Todd Rundgren - two of the best writers need to be in there

Tina Turner - Has to be in there she crosses all genres

Chaka -Should be long overdue.

Problem is only five get in I believe that is the number, so a lot will not make it, these are the ones tha jumped out.

This should be a no-brainer. If these 3 ladies do not get in, something is definitely f*cked.

Chaka Khan

Tina Turner

Carole King

The rest shrug

The humorous thing with the fan vote is that it really does not sway them at all, it makes the fans feel as if they are making a call on this and they are not. Radio Personality Eddie Trunk who does get a vote on this for years has complained about the commitee how you get on the ballot and how you fall off of it, as you see Pat Benatar and Thin Lizzy off and a few years back Bon Jovi actually won the fan vote, but didnt get in (at first) and fell off the ballot for a year or two and then got in, Pat Benatar and Thin Lizzy did well in the fan votes last year especially Pat tons of critics were going for Pat, Eddie said he voted for her and said she should have been in before Joan Jett, he said the RNR is biased towards more PUNK acts, hates any 80's stuff pretty much, so depeche mode is in , duran duran dont hold your breath, and the hall really doesnt like 70's that went very commercial in the 80's and on, Chicago took eons to get in, Journey it took a whole lot to get them in, STYX was another and Boston too, huge sellers but the RNR hates them for the whole corporate rock thing, which is funny because the whole HALL OF FAME is a corporate thing top to bottom. So i think Eddie said the Fan vote winner gets an extra vote.

I thought they got in after Jon Bon Jovi complained about it.

Well she's always been popular with the mainstream. Acts like Eric Clapton, U2, George Benson, Carlos Santana, Elton John, Rod Stewart, & George Michael have worked with her. She sings the theme song to the daytime talk show The View and has had some success as an actress.

Jon voiced opinions but they were as important as what Steve Miller said after getting in, complaints didnt get them in, reality hit the writers that hate the band that it was insane to have bands like Def Leppard going in and Jovi not.

Why are rappers taking over the R&R hall of fame?

2pac, Notorious BIG, NWA, Public Enemy and now Jay Z? There should be Hip hop hall of fame.

Although I’m sure it was Clive’s doing, I was done with the RRHOF when they inducted a deceased rapper with a two album discography over Chaka and Pat Benetar. I’m not even bothering to vote. I see Tina and some of her fan groups are campaigning for her induction on social media. Chaka hasn’t mentioned a word about her nomination which makes me think she doesn’t care so I don’t feel bad for not voting. lol

Because NWA and Public Enemy's attitudes and behavior are infinitely more 'Rock 'n Roll' than of most bands who got in.

Rap isn't rock and roll. Never has been period. What a comment 🤦‍♂️

Why is Kate Bush being nominated? She has zero rock and roll songs. Does Chaka Khan have any rock and roll songs? Devo are pretty much defined by the fact that they reject rock and roll.

It's usually very political.

I read that Prince was surprised he was nominated so quickly since he had been openly wrangling w/the powers that be.

Yes, Chaka Khan has recorded in the Rock genre several times. Her discography goes far beyond the songs most may have heard on the radio.

We have had this discussion many times. Rock & Roll is a blanket term to describe many genres. I think most of us can agree Billie Holiday and all of the Motown acts were not Rock bands or singers despite being inducted into the RRHOF. The term Rock & Roll seems to encompass every genre except maybe Gospel and Country.

My point being that there's no real reason why it shouldn't include hip-hop acts. Or gospel and country for that matter.

Of course the correct opinion is that the entire RnR Hall of Fame is a joke, always has been and no one should take it seriously. Consider it a point in your favour if you're not in there.
