I remember Dreamboy.I have their debut album on vinyl.I like the second single,an uptempo jam called “Walk The Streets” headbang

DreamBoy Music

If I remember correctly, some of Walk The Streets lyrics are, "I walk the streets all night, thinking that you're worth the fight..."

"I walk the streets all night, and I'm tired too.."

yep,those are the lyrics.It’s a good song.....great groove.

No one is not saying that RFTW wasn't a Minneapolis influenced band as they hail from Flint, Michigan

but for the purpose of this thread yes Oh Sheila was a play on Cameo's style. This song has

nothing to do with Prince.

Such a hipster comment, trying to build up yourself as a purist and a true music lover.

Don't overanalyze something that isn't there. Everyone and their mother knows that this is only a cash-in hit on the success of Prince, who was ruling the Pop realm in 1984-1985.

Who the hell are you to tell me I'm trying to build myself up as a purist? nuts
What the fuck does that mean anyway? I actually am a true music lover being that it's had my ears since I was 6 so you can go stuff it. As for the topic at hand it's not that serious. We agree to disagree. My opinion that it sounds like Cameo's Style must be spot on because the OP made a thread about it and he wasn't the only one to agree.

I heard that, when Sheila E. first heard it on the radio, even she thought it was Prince singing about her lol
I used to think she was the Sheila in the song as well lol

Melvin Riley went on Radioscope back in 85 and stated that although they were huge fans

of Sheila E the song wasn't about her but with Sheila E being sexy and the object of every man's

desire at that time I could see why people would think this song was about her.

Imo RFTW's Oh Sheila was more like a generic kinda Prince sound. Cameo was it's own thing. Cameo's sound had morphed by this time but to me at least earlier on their sound was more like a mix of Ohio Players and Earth Wind & Fire.

I also remember reading a funny story (in "Black Beat") where RFTW went backstage to go meet P for the first time and he ignored them.

Ready For The World weren't ready for Prince.
