Miss Janet Jackson stole this one....big time. I am constantly putting jams into my computer and I got around to Cheryl Lynn. I've always had the "Encore" 12 Inch so when I got around to putting it in my computer, I decided to go to youtube to see if there were any more jams from the "Preppie" album that I might not have heard or overlooked. I figured with a hard jam like "Encore", surely there must some other hard jams on there and I was right. . When I got to "Love Rush", I immediately thought.... "What dumbass mislabelled this song on youtube? Hell, this is Janet Jackson's 'Don't Stand Another Chance'."..... Then the lyrics kicked in and I was like.... "Ooooh Miss Janet, you're a thief...big time.". . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVDJxdhOQLw&list=OLAK5uy_nqzCwdKoeNlr4wfBcFnjo_l03B3udDGmg&index=7 Andy is a four letter word.

How exactly is it stolen when John Barnes is listed on both records as the writer and producer?? Another negative thread, just for the sake of it?!

How is it a negative thread? It's simply an observation. Hell, everybody knows Jimmy and Terry worked with Cheryl on "Encore" so for all I know, they could have worked with her on that track too. I know Jesse worked with Janet on her album the next year also who still had connections with Jimmy and Terry so for all I know, they could have given her the song to rework. I haven't looked it up or even investigated the origins of the song because it ain't that serious. It's simply an observation and comparison of the two songs from first listen. As for the words "stole" or "thief", it's simply humor and not to be taken seriously. Hell, did you not see the "LOL" symbol behind it? , I tell ya, this place is something else with folks obsessively trying to defend celebrities that they don't even know. How do you know I don't know her? Even a quick Youtube check would show that the same composer is listed on both songs. So I'm not sure where the humor is in stating that it has been "stolen". Also Jimmy and Terry had nothing to do with Janet's first 2 albums, so not sure why you draw up a connection there.

I'm very aware that they didn't work with her until her third album. I said "for all I know" meaning I haven't checked to see where the song originated from because it ain't that serious. I could easily search the internet and find out exactly who wrote, produced, played on it or whatever but like I said before, it ain't that serious. It's simply a matter of hearing it by Cheryl Lynn for the very first time and immediately thinking and laughing to myself.... "Well, Janet stole that one."....because the music is the exactly the same. Of course she didn't actually steal it because if she did, Cheryl would have sued the hell out of her. My reference to her stealing the song is the same way a friend would come over to my house, open my refrigerator, and say.... "Can I steal one of your beers?". Of course they aren't actually stealing it because they're asking. In other words, it's "slang". Andy is a four letter word.
