snippets from upcoming Beatles movie Get Back (August 27, 2021) click on pic Acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson’s “The Beatles: Get Back” is a unique cinematic experience that takes audiences back in time to The Beatles’ intimate recording sessions during a pivotal moment in music history. The film showcases the warmth, camaraderie and creative genius that defined the legacy of the iconic foursome. Shot in January 1969 and compiled from over 60 hours of unseen footage (filmed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg) and more than 150 hours of unheard audio, all of which has been brilliantly restored, “The Beatles: Get Back” is the story of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr as they plan their first live show in over two years and charts the writing and rehearsing of 14 new songs, originally intended for release on an accompanying live album. The film features – for the first time in its entirety – The Beatles' last live performance as a group, the unforgettable rooftop concert on London’s Savile Row as well as other songs and classic compositions featured on the band’s final two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Just from the clip he already acheived what the goal was, to show that side of these guys. Forever the footage and the film Let It Be was dark, unpleasant, it was like these guys were kidnapped and forced to work together, and the editing done was the issue back then and how this album was the sad one and then abbey road was the happy one. Now obvioulsy to me Abbey Road is a better album, but Let It Be is more a band record where as abbey road had a lot of studio musicians coming in, tons of production etc...Let it Be was more raw, almost a jam session. But even McCartney was worried early that "Oh geez we are going to have to watch these guys coming apart" and there was so much footage that McCartney even realized "Damn we did always have fun" they were just getting tired of being"Beatles". One of the more exciting aspects is the full roof top concert that has never been shown, in full, before. Why we had to wait so long we'll never know. The press releases have noted about Let It Be was a film watching a band break apart. Yet in the same sessions, we do have this amazing friendly and lighter hearted footage that gives a more well-rounded perspective. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Is this in the theater or HBO, Showtime, etc streaming? I saw some clips on youtube yesterday. They should release the whole 60 hrs on 4K bluray doubt it though. They are gonna milk it. Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

It says in "theatres" 2021 but that is still all up in the air, just like artists now adding summer shows, i think its all wishful thinking especially for larger venues, small maybe but still. I think the goal is to get films into theatres again later spring summer 2021, because if the theatres dont get some kind of venue the days of movie theatres are done for the most part. People are still going to be weary to come into a theatre vaccine or not in 2021, (and be sure that masks will have to still be worn), so I think they will try to get people out, even if its limited, but i still think HBO max and others will still have to be an option or these films will sit on the shelf for awhile. I saw a Beatles' documentary at the theater a year or so ago... As bonus footage they showed the rooftop performance. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
