Daniel Dumile -- MF DOOM -- Dead at 49 MF Doom, also known as King Geedorah and Viktor Vaughn, and a founding member of the groundbreaking crew KMD, has passed away. He was arguably the most influential MC of the 21st century, inspiring a new generation of rap stars. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

This one is strange. From what I've read, he died in Oct. but it's only being announced at the end of the year. * Underrated MC and beatmaker- Doom's music and cameo features always had a weird quirk about them. Hate that we never got the Ghostface/Doom collabo that they were hinting at back in the day...

@RJOrion and @Namepeace: Kon Karne is one of my favorite Doom joints because of how he managed to flip the Sade sample- didn't know until yesterday that Subrocc was his brother...

I met him twice in 2018 (one time was over Skype) and again in 2019. I don't like to do that whole KCOOLMUSIQ thing of mentioning everyone I've "worked with" but given the circumstances I think it's ok. He was a nice guy. I didn't and still don't know much of his work to be honest but personally he was pretty cool. He called me a "white devil" lol. All in jest, of course. His son had died not long before so he was understandably a bit quiet, kept himself to himself mostly. So I didn't exactly know him and I doubt he would have remembered me (I had to introduce myself as "white devil" when I met him in 2019 to remind him who I was) but it's sad to hear he died.

Maybe the greatest hip-hop record ever made - absolutely moved beyond words every time I hear it.

I was into KMD and had no idea Subroc had passed and that sparked his seclusion and mask wearing. and to also lose a son, he was quite resilient. so sad. I'm going to cop some stuff now. I saw the name but thought he was just new and weird, not a reinvented holdover from my favorite era of hip hop. that Ghostface collab would've been epic
