Garbage as usual. Michael Jackson definitely isn't number 1 and I fail to understand why there are so many 90s and 00s artists on that list? Nothing outstanding came out from those eras.

but NO Luther Vandross anywhere to be found??...no Teddy Pendergrass??? quite possiblly the 2 greatest male singers in Soul/R&B history cant make the list of 100?... but Ronnie Dio and Bob Dylan are top 100???.. Dylan didnt even sing..i dont know what to call his off key mumblings... but it aint singing.. Dylan was more of a rapper than singer... that list is pure dooo-doo

I'm still confused as to why Michael Jackson is number 1 to be honest and how in the fuck are shitty artists like Bojork higher than Marvin Gaye? Donna Summer? Ray Charles? Little Richard? Beyonce is higher than other legends too same with Any Winehouse.

Even Mariah fucking Carey is higher than the legends I mentioned 🤣🤣🤣.

That list was clearly done by someone who are 80s and 90s babies.

As for number 1... Aretha is number 1 in my opinion.

I've lost faith🤣

Teddy Pendergrass and Luther Vandross not being in the top 10 is complete insanity...people forget how big Teddy Pendergrass was before his accident...they werent calling him "The Black Elvis" for nothing...
where is Levi Stubbs? ..where is David Ruffin??...where are Maurice White and Philip Bailey?... why is Prince at FIFTYTHREE?

Donna Summer was a fan of Janis Joplin though, considers her one of her big influences.

Janis was amazing though.

The list was clearly done by someone who were born between the 80s and 90s.

Because if that was me. Ain't no way in hell that Mariah Carey, Alicia keys, Beyonce, Bojork, Adele, Mary J Blidge, Lauren Hill wouldn't even make it on the list.

As for number 1... Michael Jackson is not number 1. Aretha is for me.

I like Luther Vandross. One of the true last great soul artists before soul died during the New Jack Swing era.

Damn no Donna Summer? :'( lol joking.

lol...David Byrne, tho... and i like Talking Heads...but never once in life have i uttered, or heard the words "that David Byrne sure is a great singer...one of the all time greats he is..."

and speaking of David Bowie, he's ranked WAY too high here too... i dont wanna say too much about him, because i know he's an icon and role model to a good amount of people here ..

but he cant sing either.... just because someone has a fascinating persona and can make a great song, doesnt always mean they are great singers... imagine Bowie or Byrne singing acapella...no, dont...it hurts

Not going to even bother looking at this list because any greastest singers list that omits Chaka is null and void for me. but I am thinking maybe the folks who came up with this list have never heard of Teddy or Luther. These two, especially Luther, were superstars and iconic in the black community. They were not huge crossover singers.

one thing that hurt Teddy Pendergrass was the name of the group he started with... for the first couple years of his career, no one really knew his name... they thought HE was Harold Melvin because he was the lead singer of the group...but when he went solo and released his own lps and started touring, he shook up the world... before Prince and MJ, Teddy Pendergrass was the ultimate live performing male solo act...especially for the ladies...he was about to do international tours and movies, then it all came crashing down in a beautiful green Rolls Royce

Jackie Wilson, Sammy Davis Jr., Sam Cooke, Johnny Mathis, Paul Robeson, Jerry Butler, Wilson Pickett, Little Richard, James Brown, Korla Pandit, Otis Redding, & Marvin Gaye were around before all 3 of them. Screamin' Jay Hawkins was doing in the 1950s what Alice Cooper became famous for in the 1970s.
