I don't respect Madonna...

I love many of her videos, but I don't attribute the art to her... when she is alone and talking she sounds like an irritating NORMAL (as in not very interesting) person... and her new song and video made me blush with embarrassment... like when she had a brit accent... or when she says "I'm not changing my fucking show"...

I don't know why, but she seems like the most successful poser artist in history to me.

Maybe I don't know all the facts...

I do look forward to her videos because often they are fun... and very cool technically. She hires the best.

Truth or Dare is a brilliant film, but not because of Madonna's intent in my book. hrmph

music critics are nothing but failed musicians. just like film critics are nothing but failed filmmakers. take what they say with a grain of salt...both the good and the bad.

i think it's funny that a lot of Prince's fans go along with his whole "this ain't 1984, so if you came to get your Purple Rain on, you better get in your Little Red Corvette and... blah blah blah".

and then they say "i really dig Madonna's old stuff"...

good lord biggrin

i've even seen this from serious music lovers on this site. they say they love her old stuff, which admittedly, was pretty mindless, but they can't get into the stuff from the second half of her career, which is actually more accomplished and interesting. schizo crowd here when it comes to Madonna...

i feel, for the most part, the same way. i think her art lies in marketing skills. she knows the industry and who's who in it. she knows what style she wants and then hires the best person suitable for the job. i've said all along that marketing IS an art form, and madonna is the artist of the century when it comes to that!

Madonna was a rip off of Prince & Michael Jackson and was invented because they didn't want 2 Black Artist ruling the station.. Prince did everything she did in 1980.. Madonna had NO talent in learning how to play an Instrument.. so she "tried"
to be more like Michael & hide in the dance field of MTV Music. She was Prince's Shock, Looks,Image & Songs with Michael's Dancing and production values of videos.

Exactly! I'm amazed whenever anyone says that they prefer her earlier stuff. To tell you the truth,I rarely listen to her first three albums.I prefer everything from 'Like A Prayer' to the present. And the 'Ray Of Light' CD kills anything she did in the 80s.

i definitely prefer the second half of her career...but...i didn't like bedtime stories or music. even still, like a prayer, erotica, ray of light and now american life are better than the 80's stuff!

I go back and forth on liking Madonna. There are definitely songs of hers that I truly enjoy and I did buy the Immaculate Collection a few years back but at times her words and actions make me roll my eyes. It's like, "Madonna, please stop." She's definitely very intelligent and knows how to create her own success but still... shrug

I also like the video and song for Deeper and Deeper... and I hate house/dance music usually.

I also liked Music the single.

I think Ali G is hilarious... oh I drift...

The new Pink video is genius.
