when u switch speaker sides...u can get background effects....

I dont know if im the only 1 that knows this but i hav been doing it since 1996...

On headphones...right b4 u put them in all the way..u can get an effect which causes the speakers 2 get in2 the background music and vocals. Sometimes just vocals, sometimes just the keyboard synth sounds, ochestral...it depends on how the song was made.

On some speaker and radio sets u can switch right and left channels and get the same effect, only on boomin speakers. Every1 who hav ever heard it think that is is real coo!

Just wanted 2 know if Im the only 1 that knows...

My speaker got stuck this way once,so that was
the only way I could listen 2 cd 4 a while.
It really freaked me out before I got it fixed,
especially while listening 2 Sly´s Riot or Stevie Wonder´s
early 70´s stuff.A lot of strange things popped out in the mix I´ve never noticed before.

This is a great way to listen to a Prince CD. You hear all the layers you never heard before smile

It puts the music out of phase and cancels away the center panned information.

You can discover cool shi* on good records with this technique!

Funk yeah! Man I used 2 play The Dance Electric loud that way...the sound just is CHILLING. THE BASS IN A RECORD IS FAB! Especially "out o phase", i was wondering what some1 can describe that or call it.

Or you can just get a decent hi-fi that does the job anyway!!

Listening to stuff out of phase will highlight stuff you have missed on a poor sound-system, but is no substitute for getting all that glorious detail in the full package, as intended!

after my father gave me hendrix purple haze nad electric ladyland one of the channels went out in our amp, but that did't stop me from listening...i was irratated at the time because the channel that went out were for the vocals and only every now and then would they drift in through the one i had left they mainly sounded like they were in another room real muffled...but when i finally heard the full mix i could truly appreciate what was happening underneath and knew of all the cool things that were buried underneath the vocals...

you have to hear poplife like this it's an interesting mix one channel is about a half a second behind the other which creates the echo on his vox

Yeah it's really cool!

Same effect on a home theater system with either Dolby Digital or Pro-Logic!

It is a cool way of listening to a lot of Prince songs (he must've had all of this in mind when making a lot of his songs-especially from Parade), but if you continue to do it, it will cause damage to your speakers.

P.S. Sounds really good on vintage Stevie Wonder songs too, especially "Maybe Your Baby."
