Phyllis Hyman's death literally knocked me off my feet. I was not able to function that entire day. Vesta was the second most devastating musical death for me. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Having David Bowie and Prince pass in the space of months was a one-two punch in the gut. Gender-bending icons, true artists in every sense of the word - understanding that entertainment is as essential as the music. Also, for me, the music they were making was still relevant when we lost them.

After Prince, it's easily David Bowie. I've always enjoyed his hits and his style, but wow, my appreciation of his greater catalogue of music has grown exponentially since his passing (and since seeing the expansive exhibit on him at the Brooklyn Museum).
I guess his death was a gateway to really loving him more I'm a cliche [Edited 12/26/20 8:45am] If you will, so will I

looby said: I think Whitney Houston's death affected me the most, and Michael Jackson's death was a total shock. Although Prince is my favorite of all in the music world, I didn't take his death as bad as I thought I would if anything ever happened to him. I mean, I was sad and what not, but I surprised myself that I wasn't as devastated as I thought I'd be. I think that after the plane incident, I kind of expected something big like that to happen to him, so I wasn't totally shocked when it did. Same with me. It was Prince's appearance the past two years. Then the cancelled show in Atlanta and then the emergency landing after the ATL show as he was headed home and then the Paisley Park party he had telling his guest to save their prayers and wait a few days. Prince's death didn't shock me. I didn't think it would happen so quick following the events of the previous weeks.
