You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

well Mt. Rushmore lends itself to "individuals" no? but The Bomb Squad (Public Enemy) and Organized Noize (Outkast) have multiple bonafied classics that would make most people's top 10 hip hop albums of all time. BUT...if we're sticking with individuals. I have three but my 4th is hard to nail down.

  1. DJ Premier
  2. Dre
  3. RZA

4. ??? Marley/Timbaland/Ali Shaheed Muhammad/Pete Rock/Rick Rubin

I wouldn't say so. I was torn between adding the Bomb Squad or the Neptunes. As for Ali Shaheed, I've always had a tough time discerning his beats vs Q-Tip's on the Tribe albums...

i feel compelled to put a Detroit homie gone too soon on there with Dilla, but i completely forgot about him. his influence might outsize his actual "hits" tho

I watched Flea on What's In My Bag and apparently he's a big fan
