Elvis fans!

Which decade of Elvis do you prefer out of the 50s, 60s or 70s?

I'm going with the 60s. He was very very soulful then... (Love me some Elvis lol was a huge fan of his through the mid 60s - 70s.

For me, there are two Elvis's. There's Elvis Presley, who did all those classic rock'n'roll songs. And then there's ELVIS, who went to Vegas and became a laughing stock. Obviously, I prefer the Elvis Presley version but even Vegas Elvis has his moments.

To answer the question, I prefer his work in the 50s.

My fav eras is from 1956-58 and 1968. I loved 1956-58 because his sound, his style was raw and his hair was on point. Plus, I loved the films he did during that time especially Jailhouse Rock (1957) and King Creole (1958).

After that it the 60s was hit and miss and you could tell by Clambake (1967) that he has lost his way because the films he did were not challenging and he was bored!. However, when he did the awesome 68 Combeack Special he turned it around and reminded everyone how aweome he was as a live performer . Eg. Trouble/Guitar Man (Opening) https://www.youtube.com/w...FkyeO_PRlw Plus his style and hair was amazing in 1968 nod

All decades for me. Some great stuff all those decades. If I had to choose it would be the 60's his voice got stronger and a bit deeper.

Love Elvis, such a sexy, soulful guy. I liked the 60's, though in retrospect. As a young woman I thought he was weird.

God, that voice, plus he was so beautiful.

70's. I don't care for the movies. I don't really care too much about the rock n roll stuff/era. But I love those Vegas and other shows he did in the 70's.

My Mom loved Elvis. She got him to sign a napkin... Wonder whatever happened to that.

Definitely the 1950s rock and roll stuff. Then it would a little of the stuff from the 1970s such as "Burnin' Love", "I Got A Feelin' My Body, C. C. Rider, etc.

Oh my God, he went from being cute and very stylish to an outright joke and I'm not talking about the weight gain either because we all eventually get fat and old. I'm talking about those ridiculous looking "Captain Marvel" looking outfits with the cape and all. lol

Oh man, "Suspicious minds", "The wonder of you", "In the ghetto", "Burning love", "Kentucky rain", "You don't have to say you love me", "Always on my mind", "American trilogy"... I know, some barely scratch the 70s, but some great stuff there.

I've been loving these live CDs:

Did you know Elvis got the idea for those suits from Liberace when Elvis decided to do Vegas? biggrin

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Elvis 'lost' himself in those songs, even during practice.

He would close his eyes and feel the words.

Most great singers/musicians talk about the 'flow', the connection to something greater, the 'channel', etc. Elvis and Prince went 'there', Santana, too.
