I was just listening to some interviews on the radio about how Nashville is now becoming the new place for black artist. Thought of you and your country thread.

There's been 3 or 4 that have had hit singles on the country chart in recent years after decades of Charley Pride being the only one who really made it as strictly a country singer. There's others who had country hits like the Pointer Sisters, Ray Charles, & Lionel Richie. But they were not exclusively country singers. The Pointer Sisters even won a country Grammy in the 1970s for their single Fairytale, which Elvis Presley later remade. The most successful of the recent acts is Darius Rucker, the lead singer of Hootie & The Blowfish. Hootie's heartland rock songs are already borderline country. They could fit on a Farm Aid concert just like Bob Seger & John Mellencamp.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I missed it.

Seems the OP has lost interest anyway.
