Thism is wrong in so many ways. I doubt seriously that either Prince or Styles were under enormous pressure to dress in a feminine style. Remeber that Prince was perhaps at his most feminine style during the Lovesexy period, which was at them height of AIDS related homophobia period. There is no way any record company was begging him to get more feminine in his clothing choices at the time.
AS far as the OP, I agree that there definitely is an overlap in how they dress. I think Styles is trying to be more creative and artistic than your average modern day pop star, so I could how he might be inspired by Prince. He definitely plays with the "is he gay or is he straight" mystery as Prince did with his early image. He never will answer that question even though he has been linked to beautiful women (hello Prince). |
