Definitely Beyonce, even though a lot of other writers get credits too on her songs. She wrote some of her best hits when destinys child had 3 members and got Grammys

Britney didn’t write very much at the beginning of her career and always had producers like max martin

Songwriting=melody+lyrics and absolutely nothing else.

Based on that we know that Britney composed the melody to her biggest ballad and global hit, 'Everytime'...

Of course there was one co-writer on the song, but even though she may have 'written' other material, so has Britney; more importantly I've never seen that co-writer play her own melody using an instrument...

I have no idea what Beyonce's creations to her hit songs are. I don't care about her collaborations. I want to know what she created from her own mind. Top Producers have said Britney has added dynamics to her songs too, but that is all worthlessness too.

*

Objectively, Britney is a better songwriter than Beyonce.

Nothing to vouch for Beyonce's songwriting talents?

What melody and/or lyrics came from Beyonce's mind only for her hits.

*

*

That is as fair an evaulation of her songwriting abilities as possible...

i could care less about their song "writing" abilities.. Beyonce is a good singer and entertainer, and quite nice to look at.... thats good enough for me... and ive never even looked at, or payed attention to Brittney Spears lyrics or compositions to even form an opinion on her... if im wanting to hear or see great lyricism, these definitely arent the two i would check for.

Exactly. It has to be a troll thread. Britney can barely write her fucking name. And frankly, if Brit did write her own music, she'd certainly have a bit more diversity than the production team that basically kept rewriting "Hit Me Baby" over and over and over and over.

Beyonce steals songs or pays out the writer so she can add her own name to it. She even tried to claim ownership of that "Irreplaceable" song, talking about how she wrote it for the girls. Then Ne-Yo was like, "Uh, no bitch, I wrote that song for you. You just sang it."

Half of Beyonce's "hits" wouldn't exist, as catchy as they are, without someone else's music. (She's like the female Will Smith.) It took 7 people and 4 producers to write the boring ass "Run The World (Girls)" and it took one person to write a five-section classic "Bohemian Rhapsody." And, "Run The World" is more like a remake of "Pon De Floor" because it samples it so fucking heavily. (I never knew about that song until people started pointing it out.) What's the goddamn point if you're that unoriginal?!?!

Beyonce is a great performer and goes all out. But songwriter? Girl, please. I'd say she truly contributed to maybe 40% of her songs, at most, and that's likely lyrics and a little melody here or there.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Both are disposable commoditites and their songs are probably written by computer algorithm.

Your ability to name any of her songs is completely irrelevant.
I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Forgive me for side-eyeing you, and I'm not even what I'd consider a FAN, but...

"Hit Me Baby, One More Time"

"Oops, I Did It Again"

"Toxic"

"My Perorgative"

"Womanizer"

"Stronger"

Those are the songs you would've had to been in a cave to escape.

i dont listen to radio and i dont watch music videos... so i guess im in a cave, let u tell it... i dont follow or concern myself with juvenile pop artists...especially ones from outside of my culture or demographc... not sure why a 50+ year old black man would be familiar with the discography of Britney Spears

Their "writing" abilities are very sketchy. There is not much to say because they dont have singular writing credits on anything they have put out...

Britney Spears pretty much has Everytime, Me Against The Music and Work B but...what do these songs really say about her as a person? Nothing really. Beyonces albums are not really life testaments or really about her life or show who she is as a person...because most songs are not written from her...which is fine. As we see today however there is a reason why.

Then we have Beyonce who pays to have her name on everything however you do get somewhat a glimpse into her Houston native talk. Lines like "Becky with the good hair" and "how you gonna neglect this when you was just a hot mess, you better call Tyrone. You aint got to lie Craig". Those lines can only come from that southern banter heard in the hood or lived listening to r&b. She has a knack for catchy lines the way Aretha Franklin was witty with erhs "who's zoomin' who?" for example is a quote Franklin would say often according to Narada who made a song out of it. The problem still is Beyonce does not singularly write her material and is known for payola to get her name on something she hasnt completely wrote.

All the people who kept her Vegas show going for years. Forty and sitting on BANK because of it. No one has to care, really. But good on her for making that money while she can.

Gonna rant-lite in general for a moment here, just doing a comparison:

People tend to pull out the billboard chart when attempting to decredit an artist. And I'm not defending Britney. Beyond "Toxic," I have no real investment in her music. But the same can be said about Prince. When was the last time he had a really big hit?! I mean, one that people are humming, know, and remember? Oh - when someone mentions that, then it's all "charts don't matter" or "art and money don't mix" bullshit. Across the U.S., U.S. R&B, and US Dance together, he's had about nine #1 singles. That's minor compared to an almost-40 year career. I can't tell you the times, in the last twenty years up to his death, people asked me, "Oh, is Prince even releasing music anymore?" People literally thought he was doing anything but touring (like most throwback nostalgia acts in their 40s and 50s). But ask folks about what Britney's been doing. "VEGAS!" Lipsync arguments aside, people saw her constantly and they extended the show because of its appeal and popularity. Prince sold out shows, too, I know. At some point in a career, I think an artist stops worrying about the charts and just does the music they've always wanted to do. Prince gave up on having a hit a very long time ago.

Quick note about "Toxic:" A few years ago, an unaltered vocal of that song came out. Before an autotune was put on it. The production otherwise was the same. The thing is, it's a good vocal! It doesn't need all that tweaking. She needed to work at it in the studio, not thru a filter, to get something that made more sense to the ear. I was surprised at how really decent it sounded.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

the number of people who live in Las Vegas is like, 1% of the planet or something (which you Know). Is it on TV in the States or something?

Not knowing a top 40 artist's songs isn't really a bragging right. It usually just means you're old. lol

I think the better question would have been "Who had the better ghostwriters: Beyoncé or Britney?"
