They shouldn't have released 2300 JS without at least, one true MJ song. |

Between BOTDF and Invincible, there was a constant rumour about a new The Jacksons album with MJ. It would have been a good timing if they released it in 1999 ( for the 30th anniversary of IWYB). Something in the like of The Rainbow Children, it would have made a great Jackson album. Maybe Prince would have collaborated with them. After he used to cover their songs in concert. "Prince and the Jacksons", that sounds great. |

Fantastic album. I loved Can You Feel It from the getgo. Love the tympanic drums on it. Lovely One lit me up when it would come on the radio and This Place Hotel floors me everytime. | |

2300 Jackson Street is not a bad album. Lots of the tracks have grown on me. I have an affinity for 80's adult contemporary, and If You'd Only Believe and Private Affair really grew on me. The title track isn't amazing, but it is nice to hear the family together. Nothin That Compares 2 U is a great new jack track, as is Midnight Rendezvous.
Not an amazing album, but certainly several decent tracks on it.
With Victory, it wasn't the only album that suffered from that 80's sound. EVERYONE did it. That was the style of the time, it just hasn't aged well for some reason. You listen to Stevie Wonder concerts from that time and it sounds like they were done with children's toy keyboards. Some of the songs have aged well with that sound, but many sound outdated.
The bigger problem with Victory was that it sounded more like a compilation than a group effort. It's strange they went on tour together for the album, but didn't get together as a cohesive unit to record it like they did previous albums.
Triumph really is the best of thier work, imo. They hit their stride with Destiny, but they really tore it up with this one. The Thriller of The Jacksons. | |

I agree.The album sounds disjointed to me.Also,I don't think that Michael was really enthusiastic about doing that album.One of his songs,in fact,is a duet with Mick Jagger instead of one of his own brothers.After Thriller,he was clearly more interested in his solo career.

Very solid album, with great songwriting and composition, not surprising it was their last great album as Mike was checking out. I like the blended genré elements. It's interesting that they were among a few high-profile groups in 1980 that released a post-Disco album which was close to the best works of their careers and really closed out that era.
