Every single fucking generation tells the same shit to the next one, nothing new here, he's getting old, too old for his own sake.

can you express yourself without so much unnecessary profanity?... for your own sake...because your unsolicited and unprovoked filth just proves my point regarding the regression of humanity

And (some parents) Do Not tell their Daughter's that they are Too Young to listen to Prince, be alone in a hotel with him, have sex with him(especially if the young girl is a Virgin?!!!). That is a good topic for a book, don't you "think"!

your parents were right, my parents were right. yes, we are all getting old. and Yes, humanity is regressing more and more as each decade passes....

There's no such regression, it's always been that way, you're just getting old and nostalgic, furthermore the only reason you think there's a regression in humanity it's because of social media, that wasn't here just 15 years ago, and now we're able to see what's happening beyond our little worlds, and what's happening it's not pretty, but it's always been there, and actually I, for one think that in the old days it was worse.

I disagree, today's world is much worse. The old days weren't perfect, and they had their problems as well, but I would take the old days over the here and now, any day! I agree with RJOrian about the regressing of humanity.

Of course you do, it's only natural the inevitable longing of the old days, as we look back to those "golden years" it's always through the lens of nostalgy, not though the lens of accuracy. And what very midly stand to say "the old days weren't perfect and had their problems".

but social media IS the regression...it enables all types of behavior and activities that were not as easily accessible or accessible at all... the internet and technology in general has encouraged and enabled all sorts of deviant behaviors on all levels...theres no more attempt at censorship.. every nasty dirty thing our hearts desire right at our fingertips and mouse clicks... humans used to have to worked harder to do dirt...now the dirt offerings and opportunities come flashing in your face everyday, all over all sorts of mediums...strange place this place has become

Not to mention all the hatred, disrespect of others, and bullying, especially if your opinion of something differs from the mob. Social media is the devil in disguise.

No, it's not. It's just a media people use to show their true colors.

Define the "old days".....exactly how far back are you going? Because the good ol' days weren't good for people who looked like me.

News flash.....humanity has always been fucked up. Go back 50, 100, 200, 500+ years....same as it ever was.

it has always been fucked up... but being fucked up has become the norm and no longer an anomaly.. what was once bad has become good, and what once once good has become obsolete. there's no more balance.. theres been better times and theres been worse times throughout history.. and maybe it just ebbs and flows in cycles over centuries and shit...all i know is that in my lifetime, humanity and human behavior in general, has clearly regressed and devolved, and "technology" has played a major role in that.

CynicKill

Times have changed a lot.

Prince inspired The Parents Music Resource Center.

WAP on the other hand, an obviously pornographic song, inspires embarrassed giggles from the parents in the video.

I wonder if parents think regularly about the ease of access to pornographic material their kids have.

WAP was an actual debut single with a big budget.

I'm old I admit, but times sure have changed.

I would say the general public has become more self-centered and less interested in the

manners that make life more pleasant for all (the community)

People drive more aggressively, yell into cell phones in public,

Speak lazily using profanity, over-consume stuff, let their kids over-run restaurants etc.

It's called a coarsening of values.

Yeah, okay, but that's the same thing my grandparents complained about in the 70s... lol

And the same thing you will be complaining 20 years from now. Manners are necessary indeed, but they only matter to certain point, our politicians around the world have the finest manners and you know how crook they are so...

One of the reasons I like visiting France and Ireland are the manners; partcularly in Ireland. The people are so friendly and have manners. There is an awareness of other people.

They hold doors, speak English correctly, have table manners, give right of way etc.

They are somewhat formal but very friendly.

In Paris, manners are important, too. Every shop owner is addressed upon entry and when leaving, voices are kept down so as not to disturb others; when we dropped something in a store, 5-6 people scrambled to pick it up. Manners like these are a breath of fresh air.

Is just manners thery are for showin just that, just because they got manner doesn't mean they are fine people or anything, but I agree it's good to have them anyway to keep thing as civilized as possible.

Believe it or not, but back in the day, people in America actually had manners as well, and manners were important to them too, but unfortunately those days are long gone.

I didn't grow up listening to Prince.
But it's funny that when I really started listening to his music (in 2000's) I know I heard "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "Why You Wanna Great Be So Bad", "Head" before during my childhood.
