There's an anecdote from one of Micheal's engineer s that Prince showed up to visit Michael during the History sessions in New York. Everybody had to clear the studio. There's no mention of Kravitz though. This is in the MJ book by Steve Knopper. This was circa 1995. However, I think Lenny collaborated with Michael towards the late 90's, so it must be separate instance.

I'm not an MJ fan in the least but from every story I've read about Prince and MJ it seems Prince was extremely awkward around him and resorted to mean jokes, mockery and such. Meanwhile, MJ wanted to colloborate with him and may have wanted to have a friendship with him.

It wasnt until MJ died that Prince showed a geniune respect for him as an artist.

I think TTD also said his relationship with Prince was a bit off at times. Lenny, suprisingly, seemed to get off well with him.

I don't think Lenny was a threat to Prince, though, TTD and MJ may have been.(In P's eyes)

I think MJ and Prince alternated between restrained admiration and outright disdain toward each other over the years. There was definitely a rivalry. Deep down though, I believe they respected each other.

Don't be so tender, man. Prince greatly respected MJ. He locked himself in his room for a few days when MJ died, mourning his loss. MJ's passing really put Prince in a weird state for a while. In fact, it wasn't until MJ passed that Prince started to incorporate "Shake Your Body" and other songs into his setlist (starting with the 20Ten Tour). There was no need to before; Prince had plenty of his own music.

To create a narrative that Prince didn't respect MJ until after he died is absolute fiction. Prince playing bass in MJ's face isn't dispespectful. Playing ping-pong and ribbing him to play harder isn't disrespectful. To decline a duet on a song that should've never been a duet anyway isn't disrespectful. And their "messing" with MJ ended up being three guys hanging out, talking, and having fun. "Mess with" could likely mean they surprisingly showed up to MJ's rehearsal unannounced.

Fans gotta stop making something into more than what it is. To think Prince and MJ didn't have mututal respect is dim.

I’m not impressed with zoee, she should have known mj was innocent. Shes on some tv show and there was an mj scene implying his guilt and that was the narrative the interviewer and her were going with

Anyways the final version of another day is just ok, I don’t think the foo fighters contributed anything to the track and the leaked version was better. Plus I believe mj and prince respected each other but were rivals too at the same time

Dave Grohl said he recorded drum tracks for the song, but he never heard from Lenny again. I never got to hear the original version. How is it better?

Fucking ignore Ms. ClutchThePearls.

My fucking edit was "in their prime" only, goddamn it.

Not as much percussion that sounds over produced and it sounded like it had better harmonies imo. I don’t know if it’s on YouTube

Thank you. According to Michael Bland or Morris Hayes Michael Jackson visted Paisley Park at least once. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this.

You probably think Prince(allegedly) trying to run MJ down with his car was "mutual respect," too.

You probably think Prince actually wanted to commit bodily injury or murder.
