Any Midnight Oil fans here?

This great Australian band lay dormant for many years, but they're back and they're as great as ever and still have something to say about Australia's Aborigines.

That's short sighted. Songs from their album without "Beds Are Burning" went #1 in the U.S., yet the album with that song didn't in the U.S. But they've been around since the 70s. And they've had more attention in their home country with singles and hits. It's nice the U.S. is sorta taking notice again. Even for a minute.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yeah, they're an Australian band, so you can hardly blame them for focussing on Australia. And it's different per country: here in Europe they're more popular in Germany and France than in Holland, where I live.

It's sorta like that Kylie Minogue thing. She's had 2 or 3 memorable songs here, but she's as big as Madonna ever was everywhere else. Same with Robbie Williams. I can only remember "Rock DJ."

Midnight Oil knows where their bread n' butter is located. I always dug ol' boy's voice, though.

Same with Manu Chao. He is famous throughout the world without being big in Britain or the US.

Yes. He was even a minister in the Australian government.

Yep, good band, used to like them a lot. Blue Sky Ming and Eath Sun and Moon, Diesel and Dust are cool albums. Recently picked up that Essential Oils compilation too.
We're here, might as well get into it.
