Bootsy Collins Announces New Record ‘The Power of The One,’ Shares Title Track

Bootsy Collins has announced a new album, The Power of The One, which is is set to drop on Oct. 23. In addition to the album announcement, Collins also shared the title track from the record, as well as an accompanying video.

“Music is always a soother, a healer, and that’s how I want to use this record,” said Collins via press release. “The Power of the One is what pulls us through. Everyone has “The One” inside of them. You never know who is using you for guidance, so always be pure and never fake the funk. Everybody’s got a light. Everybody needs to shine. It’s there, we just have to trust and use the guidance that is within us, and know that The One knows your program. It was written inside your heart before you made that mad dash racing to be the first one to the egg! You are perfect in the eyes of The One.”

The album was co-written, produced and arranged by Collins, and the recording process began prior to the current pandemic at Sweetwater Studios in Fort Wayne, Ind. Ultimately, it was completed during quarantine at Collins’ own Boot-Cave Studios in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The album includes an all-star cast of features including: Christian McBride, Snoop Dogg, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Victor Wooten, Béla Fleck, Steve Jordan and more.

I really enjoyed almost all the songs on his last album; there are a couple I skip over but most are fun and funky. Looking forward to some new Bootsy tunes. fro

I feel the same way.I couldn't really get into his last album because of all the hip-hop cameo appearances confused

Hell yeah I was wondering what George has been up to lately even thinking he may

have hung it up. I cooked on the grill a few weeks ago and had the speakerbox kicking some

I’ve been listening to George Benson’s music a lot lately.Huge fan here.He’s getting ready to release a new live album,’Weekend In London’.I already pre-ordered the 2-LP orange vinyl from Amazon biggrin

Yeah man. Bootsy records have been hitting me like that recently. They hit fast and hard but only on the surface for me. The deep listen is not there. And I haven't banged it on the 100 watt system yet.

I’m happy to report that this is an excellent album.One hot jam after another.This isn’t a big hip-hop affair,either.Only a few songs feature guest rappers.It’s mostly Bootsy doing what he does best: pure funk!

I gave it a listen. A few bangers on it for sure. Its slick but its got a 'lil grit. It sounds more straight ahead with less emphasis and reliance on over production and studio wizardry. He's plahying some damn good space bass on it.

I'm gonna dive deeper tonight after the virtual release party.
