I have purchased a few cheap second hand vinyl to frame on my walls. But, buying newly pressed vinyl at $20+, forget it! wacky

I'm guilty of buying newly pressed vinyl biggrin and yeah, that stuff can be very expensive.I'm trying to limit my purchases, lol.

Sometimes it makes sense to buy new pressings if they're 180g, OR if they're new releases.

Or if the original pressing is impossible to find at an affordable price like The Rainbow Children.

And there are a few times when the remastering on a new pressing gets it right. You just have to do your research first.

Interesting but again in terms of $$$ vinyl costs three times as much as a cd now, its not a units thing that is going through the roof its the DOLLARS, with these collector things coming out, also with RSD not being two days this year but being FOUR and so far despite the pandemic the fact the vinyl has been in much more supply and these RSD have been doing ALOT of sales online and stores have been supplied with more. Also CD's which are the last thing stocked in places like walmarts and targets etc... most of those places were closed or limited entry and people are buying more clorox wipes and purell then CDs, so its not tough to outsell a cd. When the new Prince Sign O the times sold more on vinyl then cd, the Vinyl is 250 dollars while the cd is 150, the new u2 collection the same type of thing, and new releases most vinyl is 24-34 dollars while a cd is 10.

Wow good pull on the Grace album. I'd imagine that's hard to find.

Yes it is especially that it’s 180 gram. I paid $1. Lucky day it was.

Is anything going platinum?

I had a story in my memories/TimeHop that said no releases from 2014 had gone platinum and they were still certifying 2013 schitt (Daft Punk).

Good points.

Vinyl pays for itself (for the most part). You get far more value for the money you invest into an LP than a CD. Even back when CD's were the hottest media on the market, they never offered buyers what a vinyl record could. What they did offer was a cheaper price and greater convenience but that's water under the bridge these days.

There is more intimacy with vinyl than cd too. It's nostalgic of course. You
are just fascinated by a machine spinning vinyl producing sound. It takes you back to your youth. I remember watching a video on YouTube where a guy was showing his 2 daughters a small suitcase turntable playing records for them and I liked the expression on his daughters faces while they were fascinated and excited by the experience. They were even more excited when he told them that the turntable was theirs. touched

I'm 26 so I wouldn't know what it's like. The mom never had a vinyl collection herself, at least not by the time she had me. It is beautiful to see this medium returning to prevalence because people my age are wanting to experience music the way it was before our time; we 90s babies are a special breed!

One day when I got the room, the goal is to have a vinyl collection all my own though.
