Songs You Just Missed Over The Decades

It happens. We all discover a new song (for us) yet everyone else seems to already know about it. I posted recently that I'd only discovered Steely Dan's "Peg" in 2006 or so.

While watching Leonid & Friends on YouTube, I heard a new song. Since they cover a lot of Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, and Blood Sweat & Tears, I figured it was one of their songs I'd never heard of before now. Nope.

It was Brecker Brothers "East River," from their 1978 album Heavy Metal Be-Bop. To my knowledge, I have never heard of them, but I'm obsessed with this song. It now makes me want to listen to more of them. Here is the version that turned me onto them, and the original.

So what songs have you missed from decades ago that you discovered in recent years, weeks, or days?

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

its not decades old ...but, i just discovered a song named "Montezuma" (2012) by a group called Fleet Foxes... i started crying like a newborn infant no more than halfway through.. the lyrics, the lead singer's haunting voice... the harmonies, the melody..the sad, ethereal music...im going through their whole catalog now, and finding some beautiful stuff

I had never heard "Pillow Talk" by Sylvia until Questlove played Janet Jackson's remake on one of his Wrecka Stow streaming DJ sets earlier this year. I love that song now.

And my introduction to "Peg" was through De La Soul's "Eye Know" back in 1989. https://www.youtube.com/w...NzWuEYQpFA
