Candy Dulfer Candy has a new CD out called "right in my soul".
The releaseparty was yesterday, april 28th, in Amsterdam. She played for about 80 minutes with a small, but very tight band (just 4 guys). She played 6 songs from the new album, som old songs (sax-a-go-go among them) and... Xotica. That was a surprise. It sounded wonderful live. After Candy played there was a short break and then her father Hans Dulfer played a set with his band. Ofcourse Candy joined in towards the end. It was a great party.

See that's the problem with Candy, you can't have her without her punk-ass father! Can't stand the fucker!

But have you heard that new album? I think it is not as good as the older albums, what do you think?

It has also gotten bad reviews in the press, quoting one: "Candy Dulfer is one of those artists like Maceo Parker and Prince who can give a great perfomance live, but you don't want to buy a new record from them." It is harsh, but I can see where this critic is coming from!

But now - the album Right in my soul seems to be in r'n'b style, which is not one of my favourites.

well I don't agree with everything I read in the press... and I don't agree about Candy's album, she's trying some new stuff which is great, and I love the singing on the new album,... and I also happen to like the last few albums from Candy, Maceo P. and Prince...
and give Hans some credit, a great jazz saxophonist in his own right, I don't know sometimes it just seems everything here is negative, I'd love to hear some raves sometimes.

He makes trash and is an unlikable person who jumps on the bandwagon of his daughter's success!
