The Japanese CDs are often written to have superior mastering.... Your basic question is case-by-case basis and not uniform, you're better off Googling what specific albums/releases you had in mind for more info. The Steve Hoffman Forums are best to search for mastering info in my opinion last I checked.

I have a German Press of Prince's "Lovesexy" CD. And it is TRACKED, unlike the Original U.S. Pressing!!

Yes, yes and yes there are many differences, moreso in earlier cd's where original masters were used or lower gen tapes for transfer, for example I have a first issue Off the wall cd that has different mixes of several tracks as compared to later editions. Better generation masters used from the source country are used in a lot of transfers. Steve Hoffman board is good for looking up some title diffrences in pressings.
