There are a few John Legend songs that I like, in that if they're on the radio I might not turn them off. I have never purchased any John Legend.

To me, most of his music -- no matter how expertly written or performed -- is a bit meh. And on top of that, they all sound very similar.

Different strokes though.

Good lord! Look at these SNIPS Back to the music, I've always thought he ripped off Carl Thomas' singing style in the beginning of his career, never gotten the interest to make a follow up on the rest of his career leading to today.

I liked his music for "Selma"

I don't want to hate him, he is just bland in such a way. But there is an audience who need his style.

John(whom was very nice to me and gave me the answer I needed) DOES have that Carl Thomas style & sound! Carl should have been much bigger than he was his voice was more flexible and not as monotonous as John's vocals are. But "The Industry" loves John. He is the go to guy for EVERYTHING.

Back to the topic. John is a good artist that like I stated before I can only take in small doses. I like a few of his uptempo songs like the collab with Andre 3000. Sometimes that classical grit he sings with can sometimes be nauseating. As far as Carl Thomas never liked him as an artist. Outside of the first hit he had which wasn't all that imo nothing else he had was appealing. Now Carl Thomas to me is far more overrated than John Legend.

I seemed to have missed out on a lot of drama, too! Can't believe this thread is still going...
