I would buy ANY Rufus and Chaka unreleased material! It's a damn shame this stuff is not easily accessible.

For years,I have wondered why they don't do anything special with the Rufus and Chaka Kahn catalog.Those 70s albums are incredible! I'd love some fresh remasters with bonus outtakes,demos....the whole nine yards.

When did she say that? I read just last year where she was still battling Warner Brothers for all of her vault material. She has never said a word about any Rufus vault material recorded at MCA/ABC and neither have I heard people close to her mention it. I figured some existed but she never mentioned that was something she was pursuing.

I imagine the Rufus material would be a bit more difficult because the entire band, and different variations of it, would be involved as far a owning the masters. Who gets what? At Warner Brothers, other than the "Stompin At the Savvoy" and "Echoes of An Era" albums, she was the sole artist. Personally, I don't understand why Universal or Warner Brothers would continue to hold her masters and vault material hostage since neither seems to be interested in profiting from any of it. The best Warner could muster was a proper reissue of "What Cha Gonna Do For Me" featuring the B-sides from the singles, something we were begging them to do for 25 years. And Universal has done ZERO! Well, I guess we can count remastering the Rufus & Chaka CDs for the Japan market and recycling them for reissue a couple of times as doing something, I suppose.

On episode #247 of RuPaul's podcast "What's The Tee?" @ approximately the 20-minute mark the conversation begins to turn to the subject of her catalog.

Time has show again and again how the powers that be are more interested in controlling people. And frankly, some of these people in power would rather destroy an artist's work than to see the artist profit from it. If there was indeed a fire at Universal Music's storage facility...that destroyed thousands of master tapes, I think it's entirely plausible that it was no accident.

Unfortunately, I ordered the DVD directly from PBS last year when the show aired in December not realizing it would be released on DVD at a fraction of what I paid. But, yes, she put on an excellent show! With Chaka, you never know what you are going to get. But, she was on point that night! And she looked stunning!

The CD and the DVD are sold separately,which kinda ticks me off For something like this,I'd like it to be sold in one set.....a CD/DVD combo.
