Madonna...

disbelief

Madonna... I do not mind her in moderation but when I heard her 'rap'

disbelief

I laughed alot is an understatement...

In no rap should the words super-duper be used surely?

falloff

The rap reminds me of that song "Supersonic" from the 80s. But I think the whole point of the rap has to do with the idea of the song itself. Think about it. I doubt it's meant to be taken seriously.

"I'm drinking a soy latte
I get a double shote'
It goes right through my body
And you know I'm satisfied
I drive my mini-cooper
And I'm feeling super-dooper
Yo they tell me I'm a trooper
And you know I'm satisfied
I do yoga and pilates
And the room is full of hotties
So I'm checking out the bodies
And you know I'm satisfied
I'm diggin' on the isotope
This metaphysics shit is dope
And if all this can give me hope
You know I'm satisfied
I got a lawyer and a manager
An agent and a chef
Three nannies,an assistant
And a driver and a jet
A trainer and a butler
And a bodyguard or five
A gardner and a stylist
Do you think I'm satisfied?
I'd like to express my extreme point of view
I'm not a Christian and I'm not a Jew
I'm just living out the American dream
And I just realized that nothing is what it seems"

BRILLIANT!! smile

Madonna explains the rap to John Norris of MTV...

John: "What was she thinking?" is how how some listeners have reacted to the rap break in "American Life",a funny and self-deprecating rhyme.Just how did you come up with the idea?

Madonna: Basically,we had recorded the whole song and we had this instrumental thing at the end and Mirwias (Ahmadzai, producer) was like "You know what, you have to go and do a rap".And I was like,"Get out of here,I don't rap".And he was like,"Yeah, you do.Just go in there, just do it".He totally encouraged me.I had nothing planned, nothing written, and he just told me to do stream-of-consciousness,whatever I was thinking.Because I was always drinking soy lattes in the studio, and I drive my Mini-Cooper to the studio,I was just like "OK,let me talk about the things that I like".So I went and it was just total improv and obviously it was sloppy at first, but I got out all my thoughts and then I wrote everything down that I said and then I perfected the timing of it.So it was totally spontaneous.

John: Among those who gave her rap the thumbs up was Missy Elliott, who even provided one of the many remixes of "American Life",due in stores the week after the album,on April 29.

Madonna: Oh,it's the best.I've always been a huge fan of Missy and I've been waiting for the right song to ask her to do a remix and she did the most amazing job and I love her! She raps on it,too.

Madonna could write her ABC's in her lyrics and you would still think it is brilliant. Incredible...Major-league Madonna fanatics on a Prince site.

can you guys PLEASE read this??? It's from Today's NY Daily NEws--this is why I am so frustrated with Madge and refuse to buy the new CD.

Madonna to America:
De-materialize

Gather 'round, children. Madonna is ready to deliver a sermon.

She may have sung "Papa Don't Preach," but No-Longer-Material Mama has seen the evil of her blond ambition:

"We as Americans are completely obsessed and wrapped up in a lot of the wrong values - looking good, having cash in the bank, being perceived as rich, famous and successful," Madonna told Britain's Radio Times magazine.

Mind you, this is the same woman who, it is estimated, is worth $320 million. And who has homes in New York, L.A., London and a 1,134-acre estate, Ashcombe, in England.

But illusory objects, such as her new Louis Vuitton purse, only demonstrate the "superficial part of the American dream," she said.

"Who would know better than me? The only thing that's going to bring you happiness is love and how you treat your fellow man and having compassion for one another."

Constantly seeking to fight the temptations of "American Life," which happens to be the title of her new CD, she spent Passover at the Kabbalah Learning Center's retreat in Anaheim, Calif., says Women's Wear Daily. (Demi Moore and Marla Maples also had their seders there.)

Her new album has been scourged by the Pharisees in the press, but who cares?

"The critics have been writing me off for 20 years," she said.

At 44, the years may be showing. When she performed Wednesday night at Tower Records, some of her fans beseeched her to sing "Like a Virgin." She couldn't remember all the words.

Still, she had fun - at one point rolling around on the floor. She went on to a small party at Ian Schrager's soon-to-open Paramount Bar where she and husband Guy Ritchie danced to songs from the '80s.

"They were in a really good mood," said a spy, who was there with Chris Rock, Michael Moore, Sandra Bernhard, Willem Dafoe, Carson Daly and Stella McCartney.

"They didn't sit down once."
Let the rain come down...17 days....
