Now More than Ever...song that would fit now A long time ago, (like over 25 years ago, I think) Joh Mellencamp wrote "Now More than Ever". I don't know how many of you guys have ever heard it, but check out the lyrics this week if you have time. It would REALLY fit everything that has happened in our lives this last week! I am really not sure of the release date of it. (Not near as up on JM's musical timeline) But Lord, he wrote this a long time ago, and here we are.
Anyhow, it is very cutting of our society, but also has a healing feel to it.
For those of you that do not know that much about John, he has always fought for the oppressed, and has many songs that deal with how we all treat each other. Throughout his career, he has always had people of color and women in his touring & recording bands. (Hmmm...just like someone else we know!) I think it is a sad state of events when bad things happen no matter the issue, new artists cannot create anything meaningful for the current time. And always reach back to the 80s 70s 60s etc

Well, I think the reason why is that all the music today is so "canned" and homogenized. (sp?) Do you ever watch the show "Songland" that is on TV right now? It comes after the Voice, I think. Anyway, they do a fairly good job with the songs that the contestants bring them, but they ALL SOUND THE SAME! No kidding, it seems like they have a canned formula to them. Now our man P did have a style, but man, did he ever mix up the genres in his work. I am sure I am closer to Prince's age than yours, but I agree with you 100%. The 70's music is my absolute favorite. I can't remember some of my first cousins names, but I can just about quote you the lyrics from every 1970's song, cause I lived it. And, I wouldn't have to use the damn internet. Wow, would love to relive just one day & hear the music on the radio from like 1976. ( Was living in the Colorado Rockies that summer...sigh.)
Peace to you from the Seahorse............
