I liked his first two albums with Jazzy Jeff, and I also liked some of his later singles such as Summertime. His version of I Am Legend was quite enjoyable to watch and he seems to be a very positive and fun person but I must admit that I haven´t been following his career that closely and I don´t understand why people hate him so much these days.

Oh, I also liked him in that romantic comedy with Kevin James and Eva Mendez.

Hitch ?

Sometimes he´s a tad TOO positive but maybe I´m just too grumpy .

"The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" was one of my favorite shows! Mr. Smith is a great actor/comedian. I have to watch "Gemini Man".

Sean B, Play, Spinderella, Chuck D, Kid, Pepa, Flavor Flav, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Muggs, Fresh Prince, Brett B, Salt, Slick Rick

Music was kinda corny sing-songy. Acting is kinda cheesy too much charisma/charm/pep to an annoying degree.

But "How come he don't want me, man?!" on Fresh Prince will get me to tear up every. friggin'. time. I'll never ever call him a bad actor because of this:

I liked Hitch too, that one was solid. The character concept played into his persona is why that worked in my opinion.

I really enjoyed his storytelling songs:

"Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble"
"Just One Of Those Days"
"Nightmare On My Street"
"As We Go"
"Parents Just Don't Understand"
"My Buddy"
"I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson"

Slick Rick is known for bringing storytelling to rap, and I can see how Fresh Prince was influenced by that. Will Smith wrote a letter to U.S. Immigration in 2002 to defend Slick Rick from deportation to his native U.K. as he had been convicted of attempted murder and imprisoned in 1991.

Co-sign on your first paragraph. He is the definition of corny & annoying.

Strive

Be sure to watch the director's cut of I Am Legend with the original ending. Much better than what they put in theaters and closer to the book.

It's a shame that Will Smith refused to star in Django Unchained. Quentin Tarantino fought so hard to try to get him and it would have cemented him as a legendary actor.

So on the other day, I was listening to SiriusXM (I think it was Mister Cee's daily mix on 43) and I heard an "original" (I guess) version of "Touch of Jazz" with verses by the Fresh Prince. I had the Rock The House cassette as a kid and always knew "Touch of Jazz" as a Jazzy Jeff instrumental mix but had never heard a version with rapping. Needless to say, it was pretty dope.

For the record, Rock The House was a great album but He's The DJ... always has and will be one of my all-time favorite golden era albums...

I love that one! Jive made a 12" single out of "A Touch Of Jazz", and the one with his verses is the lead mix called Extended Re-Touch.

Thanks for the info. I´ve been following Will Smith´s career since 1985 but I never knew that there was a version of A Touch of Jazz with rap parts.

However, I looked it up on Youtube and the mix you mentioned above is still an instrumental.

This picture is dope!!! Aside from the music videos on YouTube, I've never seen a picture of Bretty or Sean B hence I didn't recognize them. 7A3's Coolin' In Cali is another of my all time Golden Era albums. At the time this pic was taken, I had the current albums for every artist in this picture and all were great moments in hip hop (with one being the GOAT hip hop album).

She was 18! She has darn good reason to demand compensation from them. Salt N Pepa used her to bolster the group's youthfulness and prettiness.

Will( whom I last saw on my birthday @ the star-studded premiere of his blockbuster motion picture "Gemini Man" that the WHOLE Smith family attended except Willow) actually use to date Pepa from "Salt n Pepa" but she dumped him, because she thought he was too corny. What a wrong move on her part? This will be my last post about The Smith's.

Until their next project. wink

Will actually is attracted to wild, outspoken,"rowdy" women. He likes to be challenged.

All of Will's movies have made over a billion dollars that speaks for itself. That "classic cornball" won The first EVER award for Best Rap Performance which was presented to the duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince ( consisting of DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith) for "Parents Just Don't Understand".

Will Smith "over the top antics" is the one that made him become a superstar out of the WHOLE cast based on his sitcom work alone!
