Rain On Me - Lady Gaga and Ariana #1's Billboard / UK

Lady Gaga and Ariana hit #1 this week with Rain On Me.
Thoughts?

I love this entire album

UK Singles (Official Charts Company)[121] 1
US Billboard Hot 100[122] 1
US Adult Top 40 (Billboard)[123] 20
US Hot Dance/Electronic Songs (Billboard)[124] 1
US Mainstream Top 40 (Billboard)[125] 26
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I was disappointed at first with the single and the album, but they are enjoyable if you are on the move while listening. I actually think the album as a whole is better than listening to any one song. I always need some musical motivation to workout, and this fits the bill. The album is also #1 around the world, and sold an impressive 200,000 traditional units (non-streaming) it's first week in the US. In the UK, it had the best opening week of the year. Like Madonna, she won't abide by the wished for narrative of many that everything she does is a flop.

Listened.....kind of, exemplifies modern pop music, to wit it's somewhat tuneless crap. WITH a dance beat. Probably to Cover Up the fact that it IS tuneless.

Sorry confused

(As the person above me said, it's perfect workout music - music that's meant for people who won't be listening to the music.)

I'm waiting for the album to grow on me the way her two singles had to.

I love the album, is great, her duet with Elton is pretty solid, although I don't love that much his voice.

Yes Alice is a good song and made me buy the vinyl album as I liked it so much. The whole album is pretty good and I think it might be my fabouvite of hers to be honest. I got the LTD Edition Silver Vinyl but pretty annoyed they do not come with proper LP jackets, that artwork would have looked amazing on a 12 inch vinyl.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

I don't know about the album but had "Stupid Love" or "Rain On Me" been released back in the '90s, they would have been dismissed as euro-trash (I chose the words euro-trash instead of euro-pop because they are not even that great for that genre) to have some fun with and never look back to. Certainly none of the major divas of that time would choose to record them. The fact that "Rain On Me' has attracted two of the biggest names of today and managed to top the charts on both sides of the Atlantic says a lot about the state of the industry me thinks

The whole album is slamming to me and a return to form. I feel like its less full of itself like Artpop and Boehm This Way. Catchy...straight to the point and very upbeat

I don't really dismiss the international dance hits of the 1990s.
You are correct that her album sounds like a FAXED love letter to that sound.

Back in the day we did dismiss them while loving them. Today I dont dismiss them at all either... In fact I adore most of them... but these Gaga songs sound like such a blatant and mediocre effort to recreate that sound (or the late 80s sound in SL) that I had to use the t... word
