You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Well blame her uncle for how everything was handled business wise, basically if you are trying to discover her now, let's face it a younger generation now she is a mystery and you have one online album and that is the R Kelly which was a hit but not even close to her best and potential. Sure you can dig online and amazon for her second and third albums but for the new generation is about convienance not having to dig and search, so Aaliyah I feel has never been really preserved even in her own genre.

I was watching a bit of Aaliyah’s behind the music and one of the users who posted claimed her dingbat uncle booked the flight from Bahamas. I feel more than ever that her death was avoidable, such a sad way for them all to go

IMO, Aaliyah was ahead of her time. She was the one who really dove into the alternative and darker sounding R&B which some acts during the 2010s used a lot, and still use today.

She was a superb singer. One of my favorite songs is "I Care For You".

That song is so awesome! I think missy Elliot wrote it if I’m not mistaken

And... "Back in one Piece" ft. DMK. "Hot Like Fire", "At Your Best". I like all her albums/songs. The movies she starred in. She would have been 41 this year. Gone too soon and missed by her fans/family/friends. I have not listened to her last album since it came out because it reminds me that she passed away during that time.

Maybe now is a good time to revisit that album, it’s full of jams!

Who saw the LifeTime movie about Aaliyah titled: "The Princess of R&B"? I missed that. I know that Wendy Williams was one of the producers. Was the movie good, accurate?

Not sure if her uncle was the blame. It was stated that she wanted to take an earlier flight back

to see her boyfriend Damien Dash. Nevertheless it was a sad way for her to go. I think they even stated that their luggage and all else overloaded the plane.

She really was. I loved her new album but also looked forward to seeing her in more movies. I had read an interview she did in word up magazine and she was talking about filming the sequels to the matrix
