Does anyone think there is any difference between the original first 3 albums versus the Warner remasters of the first 3 albums? If so, then what? Just wondering.

The originals sound better. The remasters are too fake. You must get the original versions on vinyl

Erotica

Bedtime Stories

Madonna

(number 4 on always changes, for me). Right now it's:

Madame X

I'm Breathless

Like A Virgin

Like A Prayer

Rebel Heart

Confessions

American Life

Ray of Light

MDNA

Music

True Blue

Well, it's a nice little album and I played it a lot back at its day and later. I just love how unexpected it was and how it became a bit of a forgotten gem in her discography. Very underrated IMO.

Erotica and Like A Prayer are great too, maybe other days I would have ranked them differently, those 2+ "I'm Breathless" are pretty close quality-wise IMO. I'd say however that: I loved LAP and Breathless right from the beginning whereas Erotica took me a while to love, there are songs in LAP and Erotica that I grew tired of whereas there are no such songs in "Breathless" (well maybe only "Vogue" because it's so overplayed). Anyway those three are pretty close quality-wise IMO.

ROL is great but it looses some points for being way too serious. I miss a bit of fun in that album. "Music" is great too but it's a bit like ROL's little cousin, it can hardly rank higher than ROL (although the fun factor is remedied there).

"True Blue" is not a great album IMO, it is an album full of great singles and forgettable fillers. It is the only Madonna album that doesn't feel like a complete album but as just a collection of songs IMO. It is saved by the fact that the singles are some of Madonna's all-time best

"Madame X" is a great idea, great song-writing (for the most part) but... sorry those vocals are horrendous in much of the album. They are so overprocessed and nasal that just destroy any listening experience for me. A trully wasted opportunity, me thinks

One of the biggest tragedies in her entire career I think is the changing of the Rebel Heart album. I wish the finished album sounded more like the demos (that sounded amazing)! What a waste!

I agree the demos were good and it only had 3 good songs, the rest was garbage

Well, "Rebel Heart" and "Inside Out" are really far better in their demo versions but none are bad in their released versions either. "Best Night" is far better in its released version. Can't really decide on "Wash All Over Me". I do like the demo version but it does feel a lot like it would be more appropriate as a remix and not as a main version.

To me Madonna's career is divided in 2: "Madonna" to "Confessions": all albums are great and she really is flawless, and "Hard Candy" to "Madame X" all albums are flawed, in general releases are mediocre and leave much to be desired. Well, out of the second group of releases I do think "Rebel Heart" is easily the best and the only one which provided a glimpse of hope.

I like both versions of rebel heart the title track. The other two I like are living for love and ghost town, which is so underrated. The rest was garbage and I couldn’t get through it

So true, I agree except that I feel hard candy also falls into the first category, cause it contains some of her best work and just a few fillers in my opinion. Love the neptunes and Timbaland so naturally loved this album. I guess I’m also biased cause I finally saw Madonna in concert during this era

Confession on a Dancefloor and Ray of Light

both were very wonderful eras too

Erotica and Bedtime Stories follow, good albums but extremely wonderful eras
The only thing Confessions was missing with the dual Donna and Nikkie + Madonna connection

I think RH is a very good album, some songs should have been left out like Holy Water and some others, but there are very good songs like the title track, Living For Love, Beautiful Scars, Joan of Arc, Hold Tight, Body Shop, Best Night and some others.

There is a major difference. The remasters are everything people hate about remasters. The originals are standard 80s CDs.

Really good way of surmising her career, I'd agree ... I also think RH is the best of that second bunch, and it could have been even better if she'd taken the special/extended version of the album then edited it down to the strongest ten or so songs, as there are ten very good songs on that album.

I also think the RH tour helped, it was a great fun show that sold me on the album a lot more than I thought it would.
