Well, will she?

She's better than the Grammy's. I was shocked to see she has one, but then I remembered everyone went nuts over that single at the time..... I don't see her appearing live at this stage in her life, but I guess you never know. Total genius and consistent A+ level talent, though. One of my all time favorites....

Agreed, she's a bit too good for the irrelevent,moving-money around the for sake of it, John Legend-level of pastiche that the Grammys is for. She's doing, you know, actual art.

Save it from what? It's already a disaster and her stance on artistry I doubt she would even take that stage. And also the rate we are going their aren't going to be any award shows this year.

I'm being presumptuous even thinking that universal acclaim will even get her consideration.

It didn't work for Bruce Springsteen last year, and it didn't even get Lana Del Rey on the stage.

But it MIGHT save the grammies for us? Giving us a little interest in possibly tuning in?

If she's nominated substantially and awarded at all it could lend scant credibility to the sinking(?) sunk(?) ship that currently resembles the music industry.

But what am I thinking these have never been concerns in the past.

Carry on...

It's such a weird year for obvious reasons I don't even know what and how award shows will be done going forward especially this year, since the Grammy show is earlier than it was way back when the cut off point is earlier but also everything is screwed up some are cancelling records some are pushing them back and some pushing them up, some people ordered albums and still have not received them because of the mail systems and the whole world is in another place though they may be streaming things a lot more because they have time i can't really see how a committee will even vote and push albums at this point.

There is no way that there will be a grammy for Fiona this year. Her work is way to raw, wild, and artistic to get one. They have only rewarded safe, smooth, and accessible music in the past, not to say that there aren't accomplished musicians who won for doing this. Fiona just is way too out of the mainstream for the award. It would make for an interesting evening if she would perform on the show though, but that would be a shocker in itself.

Which single? Across the universe?

Why the sudden discussion about Fiona? Has everybody heard her new album or something? (thanks to JoeBala's playlist-posts). (she's not on any TV/radio that *I* can see, but then I haven't been watching.....)

Yep. Although the universal critical consensus could tip the scales towards the Grammys being forced to notice. It's happened before.

I presume whisperingdandelions means Criminal. Her new album is out (and has received fairly universal critical acclaim if you care about that kind of thing) so those who want to hear it have heard it. She wouldn't be on commercial tv or radio though, no.

I mean John Legend is the definition of boring - a good singer whose music telegraphs the feeling of soul music, at best giving a contact-high of the real 70s stuff because all he is capable of is pastiche of what came before. His actual job is just being a celebrity. Shakin' Smokey Robinson. A man born to win awards at the Grammys.

Preach! love I wish y'all would've led with the fact she had a new 1. I like it, btw. 😀 But then again I've enjoyed just about all her stuff. The Idler Wheel is 1 of my faves. From which this is something of a departure, but I'm here for it 😎.

I don't know what John Legend performances you've been rockin'. He's the personification of milquetoast.

My prediction is she will win the Grammy along with other awards and make some sort of statement either live or via video. Remember alot of women were not nominated at the Grammys recently.

I see. Honestly, I figured you'd say as much but I just wanted to read your post demeaning John Legend. :-D

There's no such thing as too much criticism when it comes to that sanctimonious, PC pandering lounge singer.
