All Donna’s albums in one box • Remastered • Massive amount of bonus material • Large format • Hardcover book • Expensive, but limitedA new comprehensive 33CD box set, Encore, will bring together remastered versions all of Donna Summer‘s 17 studio albums and offer eight bonus discs of rarities and non-album material. That totals 25 CDs and a further eight discs offer a massive 109 bonus tracks (there are 329 tracks in total). These include seven-inch mixes, 12-inch mixes, non-album rarities and other one-off recordings.
All the music is remastered and the albums are presented in mini-replica CD sleeves with inner wallets (the latter is welcome). These are all housed in a large format lift-off lid box set which comes with a 40-page 12” x 12” hardcover book which features a newly commissioned 25,000 words of sleeve notes by Christian John Wikane. The notes incorporate new interviews with many of Donna’s collaborators, including Giorgio Moroder’s production partner Pete Bellotte (Moroder himself provides a foreword). Encore is limited to 1500 copies and will be released on 27 March via Crimson Productions (a Demon Music imprint).

When this massive set was first announced,I convinced myself that I shouldn't buy it.I already have all of Donna Summer's albums,in one form or another, and it didn't make sense to re-buy all this stuff again. But when I saw the unboxing video on Superdeluxedition.com,I just couldn't resist it's great to finally have all the Casablanca albums remastered, and the hardcover book looks fantastic! Plus, this is a limited edition set (only 1500 copies are being sold) so I know it won't be around for too long. This will be the ultimate collector's item.I had to order a copy, which arrives next week.

Looks like an incredible set. I am glad sets like this are being made for fans. Maybe a tad more Donna Summers than I could justify, but a really nice package none the less.

Mine should arrive In a couple of days too.
I'm quite afraid it won't make it though . Our President has just announced the suspension of all non-essential economic activity starting tomorrow. I don't know how or if this will affect deliveries.

The Donna Box Set arrived yesterday afternoon (3 days ahead of schedule) anyways....what to say....it sounds fantastic....so much!
the box is stunning...the book is nice but not as thick as I would've liked....it has all the albums credits, nice glossy pages with Album artwork
each cd album has an inner sleeve (just like the old records) with all the credits listed on them (BG & OUAT even have the lyrics to the songs like the lp sleeves did back in the day)...the double albums each have two discs kinda like the old days...except you don't have to flip the record over
I've been up all night (even though I already owned 95% of her material) (I really like her hardback remastered 80s output I bought several years ago) but this new box set is like a new experience, and its all in one collection
I have to say other than the title track & the single Hostage...I never heard the album Lady Of The Night but really love it...it's different...but as a whole, her catalog is quite diverse anyways
I'm only up to Live & More from 1978, so after sleeping a bit I will resume with Bad Girls & On The Radio before I head into her 80s albums

I am impressed with your devotion, SoulAlive. I haven't heard all of her albums to make a proper ranking, but a real sleeper for me that hasn't been mentioned is The Four Seasons of Love. Also, her song Love to Love You Baby is so connected in my mind to when I started going to discos in the 70s. While in retrospect it is not one of her best songs, it was the hottest number to groove on the dance floor with other sweaty and half naked bodies (oh the days ). Despite the Bee Gees association with disco, to me she was the number 1 disco artist. Of course, she also did well when she diversified after that period. Beep Beep,

the beautiful Donna Summer was a much better singer than she gets credit for, historically... she was on the top of the world for a few years there in the 70s... she came and went so suddenly

Summer fared far better than most black female singers coming out of the 70's into the early 80s. The disco backlash knocked the majority of black femaile singers off of the Pop charts and Pop radio and relegated them to R&B only outlets. Donna was one of the few who still managed a successful crossover career for several years in the 80s. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I resumed my DS journey this morning....I love her 80s albums much more than most...but back to the box...the inner sleeves truly are a nice touch....the lyrics are on all of the 80s albums...though they are microscopic (at least to these old eyes) but still nice to see them printed with permission (lol) with a magnifying glass!

Very different.I guess we could describe it as folk/pop.If disco had never happened,I wonder if this is the type of music she would have done throughout the 70s.

hey,I envy the people who were going to the discos in the 70s I was a kid during that era,so I missed out on all the fun, lol. But I was mesmerized by that era and that music.
