Donald Glover/Childish Gambino Drops Surprise Album At 4am This Morning

With all the craziness going on in the world right now, I woke up this morning and saw Donald Glover trending on Twitter and got really scared but it was because a surprise album he dropped this morning. It's untitled and it's only streaming from his website but I am totally feeling it. You can't rewind nor fast-forward so you have to listen to all of it or turn it off. I think it's definitely worth the listen. music

Listen here: http://donaldgloverpresents.com/

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I was watching a morning news show, and a congressman was talking, and he sort of chuckled at the reaction of some people in America, that are in hysterics, fighting over and shopping like crazy for food and stuff at the supermarkets, and he said there's no reason for people to be behaving this way, because there's no shortage of food, etc, and that there won't be, so we just need to calm down, and stop panicking! I have to admit, it was good to hear someone talking sense to folks, because some people are losing their minds over this! I refuse to! lol

There were a few good jams on there, but as there were no reference points, i can only say the second, fourth and fifth tracks were standouts for me.

There was a section where a kid was "singing" and answering questions about love n such.

i only envisioned a lounge throughout.

I did write a few kudos using the cursor and hit the enter button just to see what happened.

i guess it was direct messages?

Thanks for the post nonetheless Hatrina!!!

Hopefully it'll get formal release shortly. I managed to listen a few times while it was streaming and really liked what I heard. There's a bit of rapping but the vast majority is sung.

Its broadly in the same bracket as recent releases from Solange, Blood Orange and Tyler The Creator. Thats to say an experimental, widescreen approach to black American music past and present. Although I'd say its significantly better than any of those albums on the basis that it actually delivers some memorable songs, grooves and melodies that complement the experimentation and moments of self indulgence.

There are also some serious purple vibes, in particular a song that fans are calling Vibrate (although not the confirmed title as there was no tracklist with the steam).

Lol! It was good. It really was. I haven't purchased new music in a good while ( I stream) but if it had been available for sale yesterday, I'd have bought it, right off of the first listen.

You're very welcome! hug

I really liked all of it. I played it several times all the way through but YES the second, fourth and fifth, were definite standouts, for me as well.

My daughter walked in on me dancing to the second track and was shook because she hasn't seen me really just dancing in years and I was getting it! dancing jig

Cool. My cousin downloaded it and says it's good too. I'll give it a listen tomorrow.

Oh, by the way, for those that missed it, its "available" online. You know, from *those* places.

nod Everyone knows I'm totally biased, so I didn't want to mention the purple vibes but they are definitely strong here.

Ur both so right about the purple vibes. He said the album is a nod 2 Prince and Queen among others. Totally loving this album. It’s on youtube. I haven’t been this excited over another artist since the passing of Prince. Donald Glover is a very talented artist. I like him.

Interesting all the tracks r of numbers.

You know I felt it. I hadn't made a post over here in a minute but simply had to as I was listening to it because the purple vibes are just that strong. I honestly didn't think I would/could ever get this excited about new music from any artist that's not Prince again. It's given me hope that at least musically, all may not be lost.

And thanks for pointing us to the article, I hadn't seen it yet. cool
