Let's hope the next single is better.

So these people are huge fans of the new work and the artist... falloff

I've never read such a creative critique of a person's music but these people are clearly wordsmiths; "But “Stupid Love” isn’t a song; it’s a musical abortion."

Quickly turns liable when they move on to her exploiting her own mental health while calling her charity a huge scam.

Ouch.

Over the top reaction, it's not a bad song at all, it's just not great for being a lead single.

Not a fan of the song, but just because somenone doesn't like the song doesn't mean the song is a flop. It debuted on the Hot 100 chart at #5, her biggest debut since Born This Way. So, it is hard to call a flop at this point.

As article mentions, the chart debut was purchased Like Beiber's recent "Number 2" hit, it's dropping off like a brick because it's evident the song is a failure.

The song is dropping like a brick in all formats It's expected to possibly even drop out of the top 30 next week. I'll post the tweet of the guy who does chart predictions on Twitter very soon. My point is that a record company can literally purchase a hit for a week.

Possible, but the song is still one of the fastest growing songs on radio in multiple formats and is still in the top 10 in itunes as of yesterday.

When I first heard it, I was like, umm where's the hook? whofarted What is this about?

The music video was even more of a distraction. eyepop

I kept seeing advertisements over the video "SHOT ON IPHONE X PRO". mobile

Finally a saw a meme that made fun of it and it clicked.

"SHOT ON ANDROID" with the video reduced to very blurry pixels. falloff

But the best of the song was also reduced:

ALL I EVER WANTED WAS LOOOOOOOOOOOVE

Hey - ah, hey- ah whistle OO-OOH
Hey - ah, hey- ah whistle OO-OOH
Hey - ah, hey- ah, hey- ah

mad I WANT YOUR STUPID

LOVE LOVE dancing jig
oh-oh oh-oh-oh-oh boogie

And now I get it.

Download all the shit hop that you can for your kids, neices, nephews, and their friends also. That will prevent them from going out and buying it and will prevent some shit hop sales. Every little bit helps - Andy

I'm a listener of old school music only, and coudn't tell you a single thing about today's artists and their music if you paid me a million dollars. So maybe someone can answer a question for me. Do the Billboard numbers and charting matter like they used to? I remember at one time they did, and it was such a big deal if you made the charts and moved up, especially to number 1, but today, things move so quickly, and nothing seems to last long, here one day, gone the next, that it doesn't seem as important or big deal as it used to be......am I wrong?

I have probably read every single word, article, chart, inch, ad, column (even ones for genres of music I had no interest in) of Billboard from around 1982 up until around 1998 or so - after which time it was clear the industry had collapsed and based upon what I had been around most of my life in fact no longer existed. I had to admit defeat - I had to admit that for lack of a better term the rock and soul era had come to a close, that the party, if you will, I had been part of my entire life, was over, and throw in the towel. This, by the way, was a very painful thing to come to terms with - in fact I still haven't come to terms with it, and might never. For Americans, rock and roll in all its different forms IS OUR CULTURE - it is our NATIONAL WAY OF LIFE. Billboard was the bible of the music industry - what is Billboard if the industry is dead? What possible meaning or relevance can it have? I don't see any.

I feel all the people who makes those kind of statements are liars, and just love to say the same shit over and over again.

The charts aren't nearly as linear as they used to be. This changed at first when people started downloading music, as it was easy for people to pre-order music and all of this would count for the first week of sales. So, you would see someone debut real high and experience a drop the next few weeks, Streaming just added to this trend, as the albums tend to he sampled so much the first week that they are out that many non-singles still get enough streaming points to make it into the top 10 that first week. This week, Lil Uzi Vert (who lol ) tracked 20 songs in the top 100 and 3 in the top 10 due to the debut of the album. Other than the debut weeks, there still tends to be some linear growth of songs due in part to radio still is that way. A lot of people assume that streaming has killed radio, but the audience for radio has not declined nearly as much as the people who buy music.

Think again. I don't know shit about the music of the last 20 years, with the sole exception being some bands that i started following earlier than 2000.

And i know Poker Face and Crazy in love as well. End of story.
