Was thinking of this last night... Sade and her band have had a hell of a run, with mostly the original members.

Is a great one, but Kanye West is up there with The College Dropout up to The Life Of Paco.

.

I fell in love with Al Green when I saw his show in Atlantic City with Big Boi from Outkast and Badu as openers. I knew he was the truth the moment he ran his pointer finger across the sweat on his brow and flicked that motherfucker.. that sweat took off like a rock skipping across a lake.

.

I tried to dive deep into his catalog but I just can't get into religious music, however his early 70s run is definitely notable and he is one of the funkiest, sweatiest, most amazing performers I have ever seen live.

That's what I'm talkin about his 70's output, haven't got to listen his christian years.

In terms of creativity, I'd choose OutKast over Jay-Z.

In terms of commercial success, I'd choose Jay-Z over OutKast.

But if you combined both factors, OutKast would be my choice.

A Tribe Called Quest could make a strong case. Setting aside We Got It From Here -- Thank You 4 Your Service (2016) (a classic as well), inside of a decade they released:

People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm (1990)

The Low End Theory (1991)

Midnight Marauders (1993)

Beats, Rhymes & Life (1996)

The Love Movement (1998)

I usually prefer the East Coast hip-hop of the 80s-00's, but the styles have blended together in the last 1-2 decades.

I've just heard a couple of songs from them, like 4 or 5 songs, and just from those songs I can say their sound is great, interesting, very jazzy.

Jay-Z's "great run" starts with track 1 of Reasonable Doubt and ends with track 14 of Reasonable Doubt.

in the pop world - Prince, Stevie Wonder, the Beatles... you have to release a lot in a short period, 95% of it has to be great, and it all has to be breaking some kind of new ground for it to be a run imho. Sly's run from A Whole New Thing to Fresh could be maybe be considered as well? I think the big break and change in sound complicates it.

Rod Stewart and Aerosmith have both had very long, successful careers. And of course, Bob Dylan.

If you're relatively new to ATCQ, I'd start with Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders.

Really love SOS. They don't get enough love.

Bigger fan of their early work but I really enjoy Love Grows.

PINK FLOYD
...

1971 - Meddle
1973 - Dark Side Of The Moon
1975 - Wish You Were Here
1977 - Animals
1979 - The Wall

That's a five album run that I think any artist would struggle to top ...
