A friend and I were discussing concerts and got on the topic of performances. Just the musicians, or a full stage production with theatrics,pagentry,dancers, etc...? I like both and I guess it would depend on which artists I'm going to see. Yes, many artisits can get up and play their music and sound great, while others you may as well just save your money and put on the cd. However, if I am paying an arm and a leg, I better damn well get my monies worth, not to imply just a singer and his/her guitar wouldn't be worth it. Just curious to know your thoughts.

this depends on ticket price, type of performer, style of music, etc. tori amos...her and a piano in an intimate setting (a la little earthquakes); prince...a little bit of everything; natalie merchant...full band in a small venue. just to name a few.

I guess that I am like you...If i know that the artist that i am going to c can actually sing/play his/her instrument...I am happy with the smaller staged productions...I saw Ani DiFranco this past week and it was just her & her band...Wonderful Show...Prince on the ONA tour was amazing...I felt more @ home with that set up...but also...I think that it depends on the venue...The ONA gigs were all small venue's...**Louisville Palace 3,700**...And the smaller staged show worked fine there...If ur playing arena's...**Janet Jackson All 4 U tour** u need something 2 take up some of the space that is empty around u...
