I'd say old soulheads prefer Teddy (they likely heard his first) and Pop/disco fans prefer Thelma (and likely don't know it's a cover). I didn't hear the Blue Notes version until maybe 20 years after its release. | |

Gonna have to go with the Thelma Houston remake version.Her version is more dynamic and became one of the biggest hits of the disco era.

interestingly,a few years later,another female singer took an obscure Philly soul song and turned it into a disco hit.The O'Jays' 1978 song "This Time Baby" (which wasn't released as a single) was remade in 1979 by Jackie Moore and made a little noise in the discos back then.
