.

Surely that means Depeche Mode, pioneering synth pop/rock band. To this day I think Dave Gahan has one of the finest voices in modern pop music.

Don't suppose there's a fan vote to keep cool bands like T-Rex out of this lamewad institution?

FUCK WHITNEY FUCKING HOUSTON, FUCK NOTORIOUS BIFUCKINGG!! How can the HOF ignore a band that was virtually on top of the leaderboard for most of the voting time and had the most votes(1 million +) in favour of these 2 non-talents I have no idea!!! I am talking about The Dave Matthews Band!! Its the last time I vote relentlessly for anyone!! The HOF is fucked up big time now!!!!

I like Dave Matthews Band too but even I know there's no way in hell they're getting into the RRHOF.

This is all about committee politics. Nippy gets inducted with her first nomination. Biggie is inducted with only two albums in his discography. Still, no Benetar and no Chaka. I expected Pat (who was in the Top 5 fan vote, Biggie was in the bottom half) to get inducted before Nippy. Your votes don't mean diddly! They just put that baloney out there to scam the fans into thinking they have some influence on who gets inducted. lol

Honestly the Dave Matthews Band are the worst. The worst. It is a rare glimmer of credibility to see them not getting an accolade. Whitney Houston has done enough to get there. Notorious BIG had an influence on hip hop larger than his belly. Dave Matthews Band Bahaha!

Another reason that Whitney and Biggie got in is because of this Goddam race issue, which in my mind has gone WAY OUT OF HAND now!!! They had to let those 2 in because there would have been calls of foul and the HOF would have been accused of being racist!!! Racism was never an issue in anything like this before, but now it seems its being pushed more and more to the fore!! This ceremony should be about longevity and quantity and quality of their work, NOT about being scared not to include someone in because of being accused of being racist!!!

I don't understand why so many people care about this. The RRHOF lost credibilty years ago. Just take if for what it is.....a night of some good performances and collabs. neutral

I am not really getting this years inductees at all, to be honest. The show looks like it might be one of the worst ever, hopefully Michael McDonald can still sing, but what a weird class to induct. I still dont get NIN i respect them but, Im sorry, Biggie? for two albums? As for Whitney I dont have anyting against though i never really was a fan of hers, i get it she was a pop star great voice for sure, then why not put Barry Manilow in. As for this show arent most of this list deceased? whos playing, whos showing up?

Rap = Rock n Roll and Biggie was just as influential to Rap as Kurt Cobain was to Rock. College party bands / Jam Bands like DMB perhaps need their own Hall of Fame? That way, Phish can get an award lol.

I never understand why people get so worked up about this every year.

It's just a show/ceremony... no need to take it so seriously.

You mean back when aside from Hendrix, it was almost all white? lol Yeah.....

Whitney Houston was one of the most successful female artists in history. That "non-talent" as you call her sings circles around any and everybody in the Dave Matthews band.

The GRAMMYS made her a hall-of-famer. Her record sales made her a hall-of-famer. She's dead, so the RRHOF doesn't NEED to induct her, but her influence has been wide; make no mistake about that.

Despite her shitty attitude (which is very rock n' roll, by the way), she is quite accomplished. Of course, you would know that if you were looking at her accolades instead of her skin color. Go back and listen to Queen Of The Night from the Bodyguard soundtrack.

Personally, I didn't care much for her pop songs or her image. That being said, good luck trying to convince anyone who has heard her sing that she's a "non-talent".

I suppose you like ice skating uphill? lol

I liked Biggie but he's overrated and probably shouldn't be there. Don't worry; eventually, they will induct Eminem so you can be happy.

Not surprised Whitney got in but it’s not about numbers, if that was the case Pat Benatar would have gotten in long before Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks getting in as a solo performer despite her solo career being very spotty and weak. Whitney to me comes from a time of great ballad singers, I never really thought more of her than that, she was great at being given Great songs to sing that worked for her voice that in a lot of cases she was covering others. In the case of Biggie this is another case of elevation by death, getting in first try with really two albums, as LL cool J a pioneer has been locked out, and let’s also be real LL brought genres of rock and hip hop together too like Run DMC, so again I look at biggie as I did Nirvana never was a fan, I felt the elevation of their talent came after death more than any others. And for some to say John Lennon was elevated in death like they were are just insane, Lennon was already part of the biggest band in history like them or not, and already had a solo career and was a political figure in the world too, death didn’t cause that.

I agree, Houston got in becasue of Clive Davis's relationship with the R&RHOF and it's members. If I am not mistake he used to belong to the induction board. You could also tell if you look on their Facebook page and saw of the the promotional videos for the nominees. They were really pumping her up, saying her career was unparalled...etc etc...

You were reading my mind. Both Nippy and Biggie's inductions had ZERO to do with their race or legacies. After having a conversation with someone in the business, yes, Clive is 100% responsible for both of them getting inducted only after one nomination. Other people continue to get snubbed and not nominated at all again because of the inside politics. It's really just a big joke. After having the conversation, I will not waste time voting in the future. The inductees are already decided while the fan vote is taking place.
