To be fair, she's directed 2 movies and 1 short in 12 years. She's not that into direction as much as she'd like folks to think. W.E. was 9 years ago.

She sang in movies before Evita so that was a repeat, too. (Read: Vision Quest, Dick Tracy) The last time she did even a voice in a movie was 2006. Thank God no one is offering her roles. I love Madge, but she's a terrible actor.

Besides, if she didn't want to repeat herself, she'd have laid off that damn Ray of Light electronica derivative sound 20 years ago.

If we're talking about Madonna in 2020, the story calls for someone younger so I don't think she'd be a good choice.

Musically (if we're talking about Madonna at the age Lady GaGa is now) I think she could have pulled it off, but her Ally would have had to have been presented as a different sort of performer to Lady GaGa's Ally, as Madonna isn't that sort of singer.

Acting wise, she's not great but neither is she as bad as alot of people say she is, IMO. I thought she did a great job in Evita. The role I wished she'd have done was Ginger in Casino (1995) ... Sharon Stone was brilliant but I think Madonna would have been equally superb and folks would have a different opinion of her as an actress I think.
