I absolutely love Chvrches! Saw them by chance at Glasto 2016 as they were on before New Order who were my chosen band for the Saturday night... Chvrches ended up being the best act I saw all weekend! Hoping they tour again soon.
Wow you’re lucky you saw new order! I agree they put on a great show and I love the Every Open Eye album

New Order are the worst band I've ever seen live sad

No shame but she's done everything and she's old now.

I don't think anyone has done everything. Some artists certainly get in a groove and ride it until the end of time. Bon Jovi, The Rollinng Stones - certain folks are just "oh, yep, that's them." Madonna certainly tries to inhabit new sounds every time around. MJ did (of course with the span between his albums, it wasn't hard to find new sounds), and Janet does, too. Prince sorta had carry over sounds that connected certain albums or eras. D&P and prince are similar, Controversy & 1999 are sisters, ATWIAD & Parade are almost interchangeable at times, etc. M purposely sets out to do something different in each record.

What is stuffy though is her compressed, dry electronica aesthetic. It was cute on Ray of Light. It was okay on Music, then it got boring on American Life (her worst album, to me). The threads of that sound are throughout her subsequent records. But I will say Confessions was more open and fun. MDNA is okay as a record, but is great in concert. I like the DVD concert much more than the album. Rebel Heart was her Prince 90's moment, when she fully grabbed at trends, instead of making them. The fucking air horn sound alone makes it one of her worst albums in history. I hate that it even exists. It's the first Madonna record I've skipped buying (as well as the concert DVD). It have a visceral reaction to it. It's just garbage.

I wonder if fans would say the same about Prince being "old now" since they are the same age. Did anyone say that when he decided to just sit at a piano and play songs for 70 minutes? "How boring. He's old now, so makes sense." What does age have to do with making music? Just because she's 62 this year doesn't mean her brain has stopped working.

But I don't think any artist has done everything. We could've said that about Prince - having done rap, rock, R&B, soul, funk, spoken word, etc - but then he sat his ass down at a piano and sang and people lost their minds (rightly so).

The one thing that tires me with Madonna is always being overly political or SJW-esque. But she's speaking her truth in the moment. I just get sorta tired of it sometimes.

big difference, I would hardly compare The Rolling Stones to Bon Jovi, the stones haven't done anything new in two decades at least, jovi like them or not release new music and often debut at number one round the globe, though you won't hear them on the radio that's because in the USA you have to be a ten year old to get airplay and appeal to even younger listeners. As for Madonna I have nightmare stories about this tour, the album I listened to twice and it was boring stuff yes it was different but different doesn't mean good. Her cancellations are insane I have heard people have lost thousands on travel which is insane because I would not travel anywhere for her nor pay over fifty dollars for a ticket for her in case she shows up.

That’s unfortunate she had cancellations like that, plus she charges an arm and a leg for tickets.

I don’t know about you but some of her career best is on the new album. Dark Ballet, God Control, etc.

Did anyone catch the time she posted a song on Instagram that she wrote and was singing about playing guitar with your gloves on being like sex with a condom? I thought she was really being stupid but got over it when madame x hit

Hurt knee aside, I hope she's alright. I've found her behaviour this era to be...more erratic than usual. Even going back just an album or two, her interviews have a life and spontaneity that seems a bit dimmed. As if she's a little out of it? I don't like that she committed to this huge tour, and is in "indescribable" pain, as it reminds me of some of her late and great colleagues.

.

My other qualm is that her voice is better than her reputation suggests. If she just sat on a stool and sang her heart out, I'd be more inclined to buy a ticket than if it was the same heavily choreographed dance routines (but slower this time, and in pain).

.

It's not my favorite era, and it's not how I'd have hoped things would look at this point.

.

On the flip side, did anyone catch Patti Smith on The Tonight Show? It's just a woman who's older than Madonna, but seems way more comfortable in her own skin, and free and goofy and alive. A joy to watch.

Funny because the staging for Madame X tour looks a lot like Grace Jones' One Man Show. If Madonna allowed photography during her show, more people would be aware of this.

I'm sorry, but I don't think that there are many people that want to see a 60 plus year old person, gyrating around on stage, in skimpy costumes or underwear,

Are you sure about that? Because lots of people go to concerts by Grace Jones & Iggy Pop who are in their 70s. lol These pics are from 2019.

Iggy Pop's build looks like an action figure that was left on the register too long.Might be the time to put on a shirt dude.

Her last album was quite mature and well-rounded, compared to her other music from the last 12 years at least. I think the stage show concept on the new tour is very cool but still unmatured from her, who's doing big stage shows for almost 30 years.

.

I don't expect to be mindblown by her at this point like I did with Bowie's last album, for example, but the music she puts out still has the Madonna-ness that I enjoy, and she felt a lot more assured and comfortable on the last album, so I'm okay with it.

Oh My -

Will someone please give Iggy an IRON because his costume needs ironing !!

LOL

On Madonna though - I love her Madame X album - it is my second Fav album (Erotica being my first Fav) and then followed by American Life (these three sound amazing on Vinyl - particulary Madame X.............think it was meant to be heard that way with the full dynamics)

So who told this guy that it was shameful for a woman to be a woman, and it takes a man to dress as a woman to prove that? What he said is stupid and makes no sense at all! If you want to dress as a woman fine, but it doesn't take a woman wearing a pair of pants to prove that it's not shameful for a man to be a man.....idiotic!
