NEW: The Weeknd - Blinding Lights I'm 50/50 on him. He's talented, but I don't connect w/ all of his music. I dig this one, though. There's some mild A-HA/80's sensibility to it, but feels modern, too. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The song sounds 80s for sure, but I’m not liking the new videos. I hope the album is good though I think starboy may be hard to top

Love me some Starboy, such a great infectious groove.

I'm 50/50 as well. There's solid songs here and there but The Weeknd aesthetic itself feels like a sanitized version of The-Dream. "Bootleg Dream more like a nap" is probably the best way I've heard his sound described.

btw, fan-made 80s remix of "I Feel It Coming" is where he peaked:

Brilliant remix! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Original puts me to sleep, I could never finish it. Modern day R&B collab Daft Punk just doesn't do it for me, they should have stuck to all vocoders. [Edited 1/23/20 13:58pm]

Solid take, the hook sounds more like this one. I focused more on the identical drum intro to A-Ha.

It improved, sure, but this stuff still sounds more Euro electronic dance to me, which is really more their strength.

Overdue for a new album.
