Erotica was the first new Madonna album to come out after I became a fan so I was so excited to hear it ... and it didn't disappoint.
I was 11 at the time and just getting in to girls / women at the start of puberty. I have very clear memories of hearing Bad Girl on the radio as I was putting my Cindy Crawford and Erika Eleniak posters on my bedroom wall. Great times!

Were you able to see the SEX book back then?
Oh yes!
I'd just started secondary school when it came out so tried playing the sympathy card with my Mum that I was missing all my junior school friends, so would she pick it up for me to cheer me up. She was automatically suspicious because of the books title, so did a bit more digging and then flat out refused.
So I turned to my Dad. Took a bit of persuading but he eventually caved, I think because he wanted to see it as well. The week it came out he went up to London on one of his record shopping expeditions and smuggled a copy home ... still remember him saying "Don't tell your Mum" when he gave it to me.
Consequently, the first "lady parts" I ever saw were Madonna's. They made an impression as I still have a huge crush on her now!
Mum found the book about six years later but I don't think she was too bothered by then. I told her the story about Dad smuggling it in the house and she just rolled her eyes. Still got the book today and I left the Virgin Megastore price sticker on the back of the wrapper as a reminder of my Dad.
speaking of the SEX book....I still have my original copy those pictures are outrageous! lol
I just finished reading a book about Cold Chillin' Records, and basically Liz Rosenberg thought Big Daddy Kane was really hot and it blew Kane's mind when Madonna told him he was hot, haha! It is funny because he was going for the whole Barry White vibe half the time. Madonna asked if he would be in her photo book, and was just like "By the way, they're gonna be nude."

I was the same age. Love this story! All the new copies at the book store were shrinkwrapped but I saw one out of the wrap.
