Bad Girl ~ Madonna

Something's missing and I don't know why
I always feel the need to hide my feelings from you
Is it me or you that I'm afraid of
I tell myself I'll show you what I'm made of
Can't bring myself to let you go
I don't want to cause you any pain
But I love you just the same
And you'll always be my baby
In my heart I know we've come apart
And I don't know where to start
What can I do, I don't want to feel blue
Bad girl, drunk by six
Kissing someone else's lips
Smoked too many cigarettes today
I'm not happy when I act this way
Bad girl, drunk by six
Kissing some kind stranger's lips
Smoked too many cigarettes today
I'm not happy, I'm not happy
Something's happened and I can't go back
I fall apart every time you hand your heart out to me
What happens now, I know I don't deserve you
I wonder how I'm ever gonna hurt you
Can't bring myself to let you go
I don't want to cause you any pain
But I love you just the same
And you'll always be my baby
In my heart I know we've come apart
And I don't know where to start
What can I do, I don't want to feel blue
Bad girl, drunk by six
Kissing someone else's lips
Smoked too many cigarettes today
I'm not happy when I act this way
Bad girl, drunk by six
Kissing some kind stranger's lips
Smoked too many cigarettes today
I'm not happy, I'm not happy, this way
I don't want to cause you any pain
But I love you just the same
And you'll always be my baby
In my heart I know we've come apart
And I don't know where to start
What can I do, I don't want to feel blue
Bad girl, drunk by six
Kissing someone else's lips
Smoked too many cigarettes today
I'm not happy when I act this way
Bad girl, drunk by six
Kissing someone else's lips
Smoked too many cigarettes today
I'm not happy when I act this way
I'm not happy this way
Bad girl, drunk by six
Kissing someone else's lips
Smoked too many cigarettes today
I'm not happy when I act this way
Bad girl, drunk by six
Kissing someone else's lips
Smoked too many cigarettes today
I'm not happy, I'm not happy this way
I'm not happy this way
Kissing some kind stranger's lips

"By 1992, Madonna was an icon—untouchable, literally and figuratively—and Erotica was the first time the artist's music took on a decidedly combative, even threatening tone, and most people didn't want to hear it. Erotica's irrefutable unsexiness probably says more about the sex=death mentality of the early '90s than any other musical document of its time. This is not Madonna at her creative zenith. This is Madonna at her most important, at her most relevant. No one else in the mainstream at that time dared to talk about sex, love, and death with such frankness and fearlessness."

Slant Magazine's critic Sal Cinquemani on the album's impact.

"'[Bad Girl]' is hardly a celebration of loose living, and given the anything-goes image Madonna has cultivated, it may seem somewhat out of character for the singer. Look closer, though, and the message behind 'Bad Girl' fits quite nicely with the rest of the [Erotica] album. Because as much as the single "Erotica" may insist that 'There's a certain satisfaction/In a little bit of pain,' Madonna understands that the playful punishment of S&M seems trifling when compared to the heart-rending anguish of a bad relationship. And that kind of pain she doesn't need."

—J.D. Considine from The Baltimore Sun discussing "Bad Girl"

Not even the same type of comparison lol and does there need to be one?

.

See them out on the street at night (walkin')

Picking up on all kinds of strangers

If the price is right

You can't score if you're pocket's tight

But you want a good time

.

Donna's is about prostitutes made to dance to

better comparison to Donnas would be Tina's Private Dancer or Pat Banetars- We Are Young

its not that deep...my comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, playing off the fact that the 2 songs have the same name, except for Donna Summer version being plural...and i loved Donna Summer, and i do/did not love Madonna...except for "Lucky Star" & "Holiday", i dont like her music..

Ok, but yeah ^ you went deep

.

All I said was the subjects are too different for comparison.

.

You of course would prefer Donna Summers because you don't like Madonna

Which is also why I said no reason to compare.

How could you compare, when you don't like Madonna LOL come on

That's like comparing Sheila E's Bedtime Stories to Madonna's Bedtime Stories

very different songs-stories, if the names were not the same, it would never be brought into comparison, right? The true comparison would be 'subject'.

i can compare what i want to compare...like i said, the songs had similar names... i like one and dont like the other... song subjects dont have to be the same to compare the songs...thats complete nonsense...the only thing you got right, is that i dont like Madonna...at all...u mad?

Well I don't deal much with you to say "I take offense whenever you..." .

Why would I be mad? I have real life stuff going on. But annoyed that people come into a thread to take a shit? yeah I'm annoyed in any thread/topic when people do that. And you probably are too.

.

It could be any discussion with anyone.

I'm not checkin for you like that dude .

I've done the same when people did the Prince 'comparisons' .

This thread (that I created) wasn't about any of this...

youre being disingenuous...you directed several replies at me in the Madonna Watermelon Skirt thread and the Eric Clapton is a racist thread...and also in other threads in which i commented on racial issues..youve given me more than one "threat"(lol) of temporary or permanent banishement... so lets not try to play it off like we havent gone back and forth over this type of content before...but, i can see why you would deny or choose to forget these past interactions😎...and your thread wasnt about "any of this", but YOU made it about this when you (as usual) replied in a condescending manner to my initial Donna Summer Bad Girls >>> Madonna Bad Girl comment...but its cool...as always

Totally different subject.

That was trying to paint her as a racist because of watermelon.

I'm talking about music in general topics, so I'm not choosing to forget anything.

That thread was absolutely nothing about 'music'

You're making me tired, you seem to need to let some things go.

It seems it's 'you' that are being personal.

It seems your whole intent in posting what you did was to flame this thread.

Way to problematic.

You said you think Donna's song is better, and you don't like Madonna

ok... confused

Erotica & Madame X both my favourite Madonna albums. I have the Bad Girl CD singles but also highly recommend getting the Bad Girl 12 inch vinyl singles - I have two versions of this, one has the Fever Remixes included and the other has the Erotica Remixes included. It sounds so lush and rich on vinyl. Fantastic time - loved the whole Erotica period and then when she brought the Girlie Show to Australia - was my first ever concert - such a wonderful time the 90s.

LOL my interest in her just started being peaked by here with the previous album, that tour and Truth or Dare. I loved how she was filtering what was happening in culture and sociol politics. But I wasn't caught yet. It was NYC when someone had an extra ticket, and 'hey wanna go?' Hell Yeah. The Girlie Show was wild from beginning to end.
