FKA twigs - "Cellophane" music video

Link: https://www.youtube.com/w...kLjqFpBh84

.

Just that it's a beautiful video and as I haven't seen her being discussed here, thought it'd be nice to share. The song is the closing track to her equally beautiful album "Magdalene", which you all should definitely check out. music

Wow, that stripper really shouldn't mix her molly with LSD and sherm. lol lol lol

Just kidding. Twigs is nothing if not unique.

The world needs a new Björk every once in a while to shake up the monotonous pop music scene.

Interestingly, the director of the Cellophane video, Andrew Thomas Huang, is the same who directs a lot of newer Björk videos, like "The Gate". His videos make the songs appear a lot more grandiose for sure.

Yeah, what I was thinking too - this is very Bjork-ish.

Andrew Thomas Huang huh? Whoever's responsible for Bjork's videos is BEYOND a genius!! smile

Her album made a lot of the top album lists of 2019. Anyone recommend it?

Very minimalist production, on some songs she used her own sampled vocals as part of the instrumentation. The lyrics are mostly about her trying to cope with a recent breakup, adding in her own reflections on relationship dynamics and all that, and it has a nice, soothing mood - like she's putting the sadness out instead of burying it. Then it ends with Cellophane, which just represents a sort of redemption.

This comparison had me interested about 5 years ago, but I don't find her music or text all that compelling. I suppose heterosexual men love her tiny body she grinds around. That doesn't seem experimental at all. smile

I think domainator2010 meant that the video was Björk-ish. FKA's music is a lot more melodic and has a traditional tempo and rhythm than Björk's, even if she's quite creative on her electronic beats.

Nudish body contortion doesn't seem like Bjork to me. Jog my memory?

also, bjorks "pagan poetry" vid contains blurry footage from her own private life,
including fellatio and ejaculation. so yeah, i think it's hard to top bjork with nude
in videos lol

for "vulnicura" i think she also had some vids of the inside of her mouth/throat,
didn't she?

very intimate stuff biggrin

"Mouth Mantra" is the video from inside her mouth, but then there's "Stonemilker", "Family" and "Black Lake", made by the same guy who did twigs' Cellophane video.
