I love ELO but their sound engineering has always left me scratching my head. Would it kill Jeff Lynne to give instruments some breathing space? Especially bass? Even their remastered albums sound tinny and compressed. The high end always sounds scratchy. Like a mono artifact from the gramaphone era. Was that what he's going for, even with the remasters? Does a good remaster with some bass exist someplace? Any sound engineers out there have a semi-pro opinion?
